Minor League Updates (7/22) ~ Cards System
Movement Week starts....3 casualties this morning in the CT zone.
RHP Samuel Fabian, RHP Juan Severino, RHP Ronny Oliver ....all from the FCL, all released. Fabian started the year with Palm Beach, had zero control. Couldn't find the control with the FCL.
RHP Ian Bedell sent to the FCL on Rehab.
Note ~ FCL official games/schedule end tomorrow July 23rd. Marlins and Cards can/will still scrimmage each other, but not in an official capacity.

The rest of the draft class (19 players) were assigned to the FCL on 7/19. They join Doyle (7/16) and Van Dyke (7/14). All 21 draftees, plus the 2 UDFA in Jupiter all at once. We've never had a 100% draft. Incredible.
From there, they'll be dispersed to different full season squads for the rest of the season, or stay with the FCL crew for early morning workouts/scrimmages. Most high valued starting pitchers stay with the FCL for workouts and conditioning. Some lower valued pitchers will relieve with Palm Beach.
Stay tuned....some could be moved today?

Gazdar was HBP this weekend. Had to leave the game. This may be the move to replace him, and Gazdar goes on the IL?

With FCL ending it would be nice to see showalter Dutkanych and Padilla with Palm Beach to end the year. Showalter has had a very disappointing year.

Get it done if healthy.tyoung12290 wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 14:12 pm With FCL ending it would be nice to see showalter Dutkanych and Padilla with Palm Beach to end the year. Brandt Thompson MWL debut....15 HR allowed in the FSL
I'm afraid for Mr. Thompson in the MWL...the ball likes to fly quite a bit more in the MWL.

big yawner for Pitching tonight.... but a special nod to Brycen Mautz, he's highly improved vs. his 2024 season.
5.18 to 3.62 ERA
1.45 to 1.18 WHIP
9.47 to 10.30 K/9
3.48 to 2.78 BB/9
10 HR on the year...about on pace for his 20 last season, but he's not letting the long ball get to him like he did with Peoria last year.

Deniel Ortiz
Last 90 days: .292/.406/.470 10 2B 8 HR 27 RBI 244 PA 35 BB-68 K
Would think he’d be looking at a promotion soon.
Rainiel is hitting .296 with a 1.115 OPS over his last 34 PA (8 games). And has 16 BB-9 K’s over his last 76 PAs. Love the discipline from the young kid.

I guess we wait on the draft picks to be ready to join Palm Beach before the BIG ACCORDION transactions take place.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 16:36 pm Deniel Ortiz

I'm hoping for Ortiz, too. I wonder how the K Rate and adjust to High A will go for him....I think there will be some growing pains.
