There will certainly be interest in Walker because:
He is still young.
Has potential.
Is cost controlled for multiple years and doesn’t make squat.
But teams will try to steal him in a deal.

And he really isn’t blocking anyone at the moment as a RH OF bat.
Baez is intriguing but probably looking at 2027?
Chase Davis has been shaky.
Some posters pointed out that he still may have an option year for 2026?
That would be huge!
Play him at least half the time for the balance of the season.
Same with Gorman.
If Arenado is finally dealt that opens up some PT.
If anything they need to move a LH OF.

Why would you trade for someone who has only one option year left and a -0.9 WAR and a 63 OPS+. Unless your the CWS, or Rockies

Where did I say they should trade him??
While he is certainly a roller coaster he isn’t currently blocking anyone for 2025.
Now....2026 could be different especially if:
JJ emerges(2B)?
Gorman and/or Saggese emerges?
Burleson is the real deal?
Crooks/Bernal? Herrera to DH or possibly corner OF?

Transition period.

I didn't say you did, but you stated there'd be interest in him and I responded to that statement...how was that not clear?

Yep he is, he’s hitting .286 over his last 25 games and has 13 RBI in 73 PA.

I know many already see Walker as a bust or fool’s gold, but the return would be commensurate/nothing at this point. He’d be more valuable if they stashed him at AAA all next season if he were to perform well down there.

Better to be young and tearing up the minors than continuing to fail at the big league level. You might get other teams to start dreaming because he’s still young.

This. He had decent trade value a couple years ago. That has cratered. He's still only 23. Silly to dump him for next to nothing, if that's the reality, which I don't know for sure is true.
Before this season started, I was thinking trading him might be a move, but not now.

I'll admit to pulling for the kid because I like him and think he has a lot of potential. He's very well-spoken, humble, and hard-working. Just look at his defense compared to last year. He was hitting well for a few weeks right before the wrist injury and the new stance looks far more controlled. And FWIW, if those 2 balls in AZ were hit in something like 28 other parks, we're not just talking about him looking decent the last few games, we're talking about Walker looking like a monster since the break.

That's a lot of ifs, so he's got to keep improving, but I'm pulling for him. At this point, him finding his potential is about the most one could hope for regarding this season. Even if the Cards go on another 10-game tear, it won't matter.

They probably have the worst starting pitching of any team over .500. Oh, and he HAS to start fouling off pitches, especially those that are strike 3.
