Two months away from the first exhibition game in Dallas....can't wait to see the battle for the few spots that remain open.
I was so up last year it's hard to match it and the team almost hit the points I had them down for. I think this year will have different levels of challenge, including more being expected of them.
The comments in this thread have been outstanding.
Love these guys all but I have to go with Monty as the guy I'm most excited about. He made a team of them, got a ton out of ALL of them and proved himself to be an amazing coach able to motivate the young and old to play for each other.
Can't wait to see him navigate this team in 25/26.

I'm excited to see what a full season of Montgomery can do for the team.

Lots of young players to be excited about, plus some who may not get a chance right off the bat but may get ice time as the year progresses. And of course, the continued progression of players like Thomas, Holloway, Kyrou and Broberg. Can't wait for the season to start!

I want to see if the Holloway-Schenn-Kyrou line can pick up where they left off. That was an exciting brand of hockey when they were on the ice.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why some people are automatically penciling in a career 3rd liner who has never cracked 50 points in the NHL, who has never cracked 50%+ on faceoff percentage in a season, who has a single 20 goal AND 20 assist (ONE SEASON OVER 20 assists) with arguably two of our best scorers in Kyrou and Holloway.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 14:20 pm The Pius Suter, Holloway, Kyrou line. And I really like the idea of watching a whole season of Fowler.
Am I just Imagining things or was line doing extremely well while Schenn centering the pair of them??
I get it, Schenn is not an ideal center but he’s a better option than Suter 90% of the time. If you want to juggle the lines sometimes, sure but ask the 30 other GM’s around the league which player they’d take to win next season at center ice. All 30 are taking Schenn.
Suter is a solid pickup and a good 3C but he’s not this career top 6 center that I think some people think he is. And why the heck are we trying to fix a line that wasn’t even broken? When they were healthy they were great together. Am I missing something??

Schenn was a key part of that combination from both the defensive side and also his toughness around the net. You take him off that line and replace with someone smaller and not as tough along the boards and in the crease and the chemistry goes south. They complimented each others skills perfectly.BluesBirdsBuds wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 20:31 pmFor the life of me, I cannot understand why some people are automatically penciling in a career 3rd liner who has never cracked 50 points in the NHL, who has never cracked 50%+ on faceoff percentage in a season, who has a single 20 goal AND 20 assist (ONE SEASON OVER 20 assists) with arguably two of our best scorers in Kyrou and Holloway.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 14:20 pm The Pius Suter, Holloway, Kyrou line. Holloway had 21 pts in first 38 games and 42 in the last 38. In those same last 38 games for Holloway, Schenn had 31 points and Kyrou had 38!
The chemistry was there!

You may be correct. By all means, if Schenn still has it, then keep him with Holloway and Kyrou.BluesBirdsBuds wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 20:31 pmFor the life of me, I cannot understand why some people are automatically penciling in a career 3rd liner who has never cracked 50 points in the NHL, who has never cracked 50%+ on faceoff percentage in a season, who has a single 20 goal AND 20 assist (ONE SEASON OVER 20 assists) with arguably two of our best scorers in Kyrou and Holloway.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 14:20 pm The Pius Suter, Holloway, Kyrou line. Re: What are you most excited about this upcoming season?
BRAYDEN SCHENN ALMOST 34. DOESNT CARE THAT YOU THINK HE'S OLD. HE DOESNT LISTEN. Just because you say he is declining doesnt make it so.
Schenn will be Schenn again this year. 50 points, fights, hits, and leadership. He will play 2nd or 3rd line center or wing. He does what is needed.
Love that guy. Averages 54.67 pts per year. 1022 games and 685 points.
Guys will follow his lead and hopefully we have a whole lineup filled with heart and soul types.
