Not only do playoff teams have top 5 picks, so do teams like the Blackhawks. 88 games below 500 and minus 350 goals over the past 4 years. That's fun. And I will repeat it but not nearly as often as you repeat your fears. Seattle is right about you, but you refuse to have your eyes opened. Live in that dark, blind state as long as you choose.
Or listen to MN ... the Blues would have to trade more than one of Thomas, Holloway, Broberg, Parayko and Binner for futures in order to reach your paradise of a top 5 pick like Owen Power (which apparently would set the Blues up to win the Cup in your mind).
So pick a few of the Blues top players to trade for futures and let's see how much fun it is to watch the carnage.
Isn't DA an idiot for not trading our top players for futures?

The season concern will be the same as it's been for a few years.

And that's. Binnington doesn't make the saves that keep grinders in the game long enough for a puck to hit Neighbours in front of the net.

Next biggest is Army again goes for a couple of playoff games. Instead of a impact prospect.

Kyrou
Thomas
Hofer
Tucker
Neighbours
Snuggerud
Lindtein
Kaskamaki
Dvorsky
Stenberg
Dean

along with Broberg, Holloway and Mailloux will make this a contender going forward.

You can bet there will be bumps galore along the way, news flash - these are younger players. Mailloux is going to learn the job on the fly this season hes going to F up some plays. Hes also going to finish monster checks and score some exciting goals.

Another news flash for the resident idiot - it doesnt matter where you were drafted its more important that the franchise can use your toolbox and re hone your game into an NHL player. You shouldnt need examples of this at this point but.... how many really saw Thomas (#20) as a #1 center. What about Parayko (#86) who saw this kid becoming one of the top RHD in the NHL? Kyrou (#35) after being a -50 from '22-'24 Kyrou revamped his overall game and is literally 9th in Goals Scored in his draft class with 150 goals in laughably only 416 GP.
Guess what more of this coming and some will surprise in a big way.
Take a gander at the league leaders. Most are TOP5 picks, playing for the same team that drafted them.
Same for NHL TOP50. Same for HOF. Same for the MVPs of the Stanley Cup.

Do you think that this is just a coincidence? Great players are born, more than they are developed by a coach or melded with a team.

Some seem to not care that the Blues will never have the equivalent of a Musial, Gibson, or Pujols. They trust that 15 Molinas will suffice.

Newsflash: Without Pujols, no one would ever remember Molina. Without Gibson, no one would ever remember McCarver.

Wake up, people. Read up on how other cities think of the draft and operate their team. There is no reason for the Blues to operate differently than every other NHL team.

No offense to assload and theo, whoever they are... God love us, one and all. That's all that I need to know.

For myself, I want to play hockey and love like most do. I want to watch TOP5 hockey picks, and beautiful women. I've got this thing about admiring beauty and grace.

This guy can't even read, let alone have any concept of points/ where previous players were drafted etc... He thinks Pujols was a top pick. He was 402nd overall. Guy is goblin gupid.

Guess we are a playoff team as long as we have Brayden Schenn, legendary top5 pick. That's all that matters.

He’s also made several references to all the NHL teams that have a Musial and the Blues don’t. Which means he is extremely ignorant about the NHL or MLB, or likely, both.

Look at that list of Top 5s the last time the Blues won a Cup, or wait its very small too

My biggest concern is actually for Smelly. How can he possibly keep up his 4 threads a day regimen of regurgitated "Army sucks for not tanking" schtick? I don't think any of us truly appreciate the commitment this guy has made...

You're a dual threat - stupid in two sports!

Nobody would remember Molina if not for Pujols?!? Molina almost single-handedly changed baseball by eliminating the running game. Never mind how many scrap heap starters he turned into All Stars with his game calling and pitch framing.

Molina changed the game the same way Gibson changed the game.

Army and the schnoz will have egg on they're face if this one proves to be true and we don't really have any depth at that position. If Mailloux can't cut it, are we playing Kessel on the 3rd pairing or bringing in an old vet?
And to make things worse... If Mailloux can't stay on the roster, is his career over? He's not a young prospect, and we may learn that he is a bust completely.

Trading Bolduc for a Bust is not going to go well among BluesTalkers.
C'mon now, that's just idiotic.

#1 He's 22 years old he's got a long way to go before he enters suspect territory. Good lord.

He will get sheltered minutes, he has a ton of mentorship, and he will be given a lot of leeway. In 2 years he'll be our #2 RHD and there is likely very little doubt about that.
So when Armstrong said essentially that Mailloux will be given every opportunity to make the club immediately, and we expect him to succeed, you think that really meant...

Mailloux will be given multiple chances to make the club...

Without a doubt, if Mailloux fails it will be a huge black mark on Armstrong's GM-ship, and for that reason, Mailloux may be given a Perunovich-style runway. However, I could also see a scenario where playing him may drive Montgomery and the fans crazy, and that may be a worse black mark for Army. We must never forget the old "stay competitive" approach by Blues management. They hate losing more than they like winning a Cup.
We can also see a scenario where he becomes a star and drives you nuts as your gripes are wrong (as usual).
