Okay we won't get my dream catch for Hesley + Noot
BUT
The Dodgers are for sure sniffing around on Helsley etal:
per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, who reports that L.A. has inquired on Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase, Pirates closer David Bednar, Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley and Orioles closer Felix Bautista (in addition to previously reported interest in Minnesota’s Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax).
Many teams are.
With the Dodgers, I would attempt to go big.
Helsley, Mootbaar, and N/A in one package.
De Paula, Sirota, and Swan going to STL.

Zero chance the Dodger would go for that.
Plenty of ways for them to add to their BP without giving up A. Pages.
If I was the STL POBO (which would be an improvement over the current one), if I was shopping Helsley and Mootbaar to LA, I would demand N/A, Helsley, and Mootbaar for De Paula, Sirota, and Swan.
In my humble opinion, in the Cardinals current situation, I hope that
if they can clear a player that doesn't have a future with the team, I would not hold out for the
best deal. IF 2 months of Hels is the cost of moving NA so be it. Make it a far better deal
than Clase will cost LA. Nootbaar can be done with or without LA,
perhaps in a deal where the Cards are buying something.

Dodgers won’t add to the current roster by subtracting from the current when they can use their strong minor league system to accomplish that. Adding Noot and Helsley would strengthen them but losing Pages would weaken them. They have four outfielders listed in the top 100 overall prospects ready starting in 2027. They would be willing to deal from them. That also better fits the Cards timeline.
When was the last time the Dodgers traded one of their highly rated prospects that actually helped anyone. Alvarez doesn’t count because he wasn’t highly rated. The Hollywood hype machine has nothing on the Dodgers and their lackeys in the media.

Dodgers wouldn't
Bingo
Here, have our (bleep) for your stud RH 23 yr old CF
Uh oh
Now how desperate would the Dodgers be?
"Tanner Scott, a Los Angeles Dodgers reliever, exited a game on Monday, July 21st, 2025, due to an apparent arm injury. Reports indicate he felt a "sting" in his left forearm during the ninth inning against the Minnesota Twins"!
I say ask for the Moon (Pages) and accept a few minor league stars!

That's why I shot for the moon, knowing they have that pipeline of OF'ers coming soon (plus a bottomless payroll they can use to sign K.Tucker).
Disagree though about about unproven major league prospects "better fitting the Cards timeline", Pages is a perfect piece needed for this OF.
I want proven major league talent w/years of control for Helsley, not a prospect who could become nothing in MLB.
I don’t think you’re going to get a proven major league talent for Helsley. He’s a FA at the end of the year. You might get a good prospect though who may not be that far off. We shall see.

Well given the Dodgers just lost T. Scott you never know, how desperately do they want another WS title in LA?
Like I've been saying today:
Ask for the Moon (Pages) and accept a star (prospect).
I would make this trade, but doubt the Dodgers would. Maybe if the Cards sweeten the deal by adding Maton or Arenado. I do like Andy Pages - he is exactly the kind of OF the Cardinals need.

Yea, if the Dodgers want Arenado, one stop shopping, Helsley, Maton, Arenado and Nootbar for Pages? It solves a lot of issues for the Cardinals. DFA Fedde and use Graceffo, Granillo and O'Brien along with Romero in the back end of the bullpen the rest of the year. The overall line-up is better and Sagesse and Gorman can get all the runway they need at 3B.
Can we get Ryan Ward included in there somehow? I’m curious about him.
27 year old hitting .314/.400/.617 with 24 doubles 26 HR 87 RBI for the Dodgers AAA team in 91 games. He’s a corner OFer/1Bman. Had 104 RBI and 34 HR last year in AAA, too. Showing better discipline this year than last year.

Your last sentence is exactly why the Dodgers aren’t trading him. Even the Dodgers need cost controlled good players.

Arenado doesnt sweeten the deal. He is a below league average hitter and terrible contract. And while.money isnt as big an issue for dodgers as some other teams, they are already way over luxury tax and wouldnt want to addmore just for a player who wouldnt improve them. Maton or matz as sweetener is unserstandable. I just dont think its enough for dodgers to accept.
