I haven't seen it yet, but I've read plenty of reviews and yours definitely has been the harshest. Haven't seen anyone else talking much about Superman getting saved every time by Krypto e.g...Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 17:17 pm Strong second week, so I guess it's getting better word-of-mouth than I expected...

Not saying that doesn't happen in the movie, just that you are probably more critical than 99% of filmgoers to notice that pattern.

I'm certainly more harsh than the average moviegoer, but I don't think I'm all alone. I've heard a few people (friends and critics) complain about Superman's passivity. It was the first thing my buddy's 10yo said when they came out of the movie.3dender wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 10:40 amI haven't seen it yet, but I've read plenty of reviews and yours definitely has been the harshest. Re: Superman
Well I finally got to see Superman today. It was entertaining.
James Gunn is an odd duck, so I’ve come to expect a certain weirdness to his movies. But it wasn’t annoying like I thought it might be. The story was pretty good. The effects were very good. If there were subliminal political messages going on, they did a really good job of keeping them under the radar. If I hadn’t heard the chatter about it being political beforehand, I don’t think I’d have come away thinking that at all.
It was a vulnerable version of Superman. Not to spoil anything, but they did a great job of letting you in on how he was vulnerable toward the end. And not just because of kryptonite.
I was definitely wrong to think it would bomb. Was it the best movie I’ve ever seen? Not even close. Was it fun and worth the money? Absolutely.

Re: Superman
I watched it last week, and I enjoyed it. I thought it was a well paced movie, and the acting was really good. I enjoyed Nicholas Hoult as Lex, I think he did a very good job of why he hates Superman (and all aliens). Also (spoiler, sorry) seeing Peacemaker is always welcome. Love that show.
