Re: Biggest Concerns to Start the Season
My biggest concern is this team being worse than last season's team that was garbage for all but 12 games and a few playoff games. I can see them being sub .500 and just ignoring it because Army feels they are better than their record. This D is still NOT good, better with Leddy gone, but still Faulk and Parayko aren't Top pairing Dmen.
Re: Biggest Concerns to Start the Season
G. Other -- First, that the J.O. who started this thread continues to exist. And second, that we do not vastly improve our puck management during the final 60-90 seconds of every period, in particular the 3rd period.

My biggest concern is you aren’t officially banned from this forum and we’ll be forced to encounter this uneducated drivel every day of the season, no matter how the Blues are playing.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 21:18 pm Biggest Concerns to Start the Season:
A. The Jan 2025 Blues return to start the season. See Army's gasket blow before the 4 Nations Break for the state of the team.
B. Snuggerud not ready for the NHL
C. Mailloux not ready for the NHL
D. The Blues are the Champions of the Distraction Cup, the Winter Classic. This year, the distraction is the Olympics, and Army is a ringleader.
E. Holloway/Broberg injury impact carries into the season
F. Schenn and Sunny are 1 year older
G. Other
My vote is A.

I saw a team last year that found its way and ended the season no where near "garbage".
We'll see if they can continue on and gain ground in a brutal Central Division.

I love stories w/ a happy ending.b-a-a-a-rclay wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 08:57 am My mother in law used to worry about everything, and she would blow the imaginary impact way out of proportion for things that almost never came to fruition. She was not easy to be around. She eventually died.

Yeah it's an 82 game season. No teams that are garbage for 70 games and then not for 12 make the playoffs.dhsux wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 09:36 amYou must be really excited to see the season open up eh?smilinjoefission wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 09:19 am My biggest concern is this team being worse than last season's team that was garbage for all but 12 games and a few playoff games. They were struggling to figure it out for a lot of the season, but hanging in there. Then it did click and we saw what they could be. Then the young guys picked up some very valuable playoff experience.
They've positioned themselves very well heading into this year. Could it drift into another year of growing pains? Yes. Would that be disappointing? Yes. Would it be that bad for the future of the organization? Not really.

C'mon now, that's just idiotic.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 07:41 amAnd to make things worse... If Mailloux can't stay on the roster, is his career over? He's not a young prospect, and we may learn that he is a bust completely.
Trading Bolduc for a Bust is not going to go well among BluesTalkers.
#1 He's 22 years old he's got a long way to go before he enters suspect territory. Good lord.
He will get sheltered minutes, he has a ton of mentorship, and he will be given a lot of leeway. In 2 years he'll be our #2 RHD and there is likely very little doubt about that.

Re: Biggest Concerns to Start the Season
I have 2 real questions
What are the best BBQ places in order and their number 1 staple with maybe 1 side
and what are the top 3 unsuspecting food places in St. Louis. Can't be pizza, wings, or anything italian on the hill (italian somewhere else still counts)
Asking this question because I am completely unsure on these topis. For BBQ I always put Pappys number 1 because of their Ribs. They are my national standard. I need recs here for STL as I seem to know more outside of STL than inside.
For trying something new, I don't really have any good recommendations that are outside the box. I always see people saying Balkan Box but I have never been there. I would throw up Gioas sandwiches (I know it's on the hill but it's different), Broadway Oyster Bar with their Crawfish enchiladas, and Peacemaker with their Lobster Rolls.

I hear ya. For years I've always made brats on opening day. But my life is in transition, so who knows where my grill will be. I just might need to call an audible.Nublues69 wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 09:47 amMy biggest concern is what am i going to cook for the home opener for my guest... For Ribs I do Adams Smokehouse or Dalies because they're the same as Pappy's and I don't want to go downtown...Adams has good pasta salad/smoked salami - Dalies has fire and ice picklescallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 09:51 am Asking this question because I am completely unsure on these topis. For Italian food I buy my own at DiGregorios with a special stop at Eovoldi's for their epic meatballs and luganega.

So when Armstrong said essentially that Mailloux will be given every opportunity to make the club immediately, and we expect him to succeed, you think that really meant...TheJackBurton wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 09:50 amC'mon now, that's just idiotic.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 07:41 amAnd to make things worse... Mailloux will be given multiple chances to make the club...
Without a doubt, if Mailloux fails it will be a huge black mark on Armstrong's GM-ship, and for that reason, Mailloux may be given a Perunovich-style runway. However, I could also see a scenario where playing him may drive Montgomery and the fans crazy, and that may be a worse black mark for Army. We must never forget the old "stay competitive" approach by Blues management. They hate losing more than they like winning a Cup.

To my detractors and haters...
Look at it this way. You get sunshine blown up you A everyday from numerous sources. At the very least, I give you a reason to pucker it and feel alive.

My biggest concern before the season is finishing the spreadsheet that has the grid of what day/time all the teams of all the prospects play, it's a manual grind. I'm halfway through Sarnia.
To the OP on his last comment: the reason people resent that is life provides plenty of reasons for everyone to be concerned, worried, anxious, so for you to create a whole persona out of pouring it on even more is really atrocious behavior and the reason people find it despicable is obvious.
"Negativity is needed, and I'm the one to channel it, it's valuable." – if this is your answer you are an unreliable narrator and have failed at life.

The Blues prospects are ranked in the middle of the pack by every source that provides a ranking. What I'm telling people is no different. Do I put it in front of noses too often? Perhaps, but the sources that blow fake sunshine are also very active, and they irritate me.seattleblue wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 10:38 am My biggest concern before the season is finishing the spreadsheet that has the grid of what day/time all the teams of all the prospects play, it's a manual grind. Fake sunshine irritates most people dude. I am intolerant of fake sunshine just as I am of manufactured negativity. You don't need to be the cop for that there are plenty of cops for that.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025 10:47 amThe Blues prospects are ranked in the middle of the pack by every source that provides a ranking. YES you CAN elect to be this persona on your flimsy unreliable narrator reasoning, but you will come to learn life is finite so it's a real life crime, genuinely. That's why people invest so much energy telling you off and will continue to do so. I'm a big believer if you change, we should change in response but you have to change first, you are the main character after all. you're the decider of this.
