Cardinals last 10 games in NL Central

Post by ramfandan »

First , the good news .. The Redbirds (3-7) moved two more games ahead of the Pirates (1-9) . OK that was my attempt at humor
Now for the bad news ... The Cardinals fell 3 more games behind both the Cubs (6-4) and Reds (6-4) . The super bad news is that the Cardinals lost 7 full games to the Brewers (10-0) during the same period.

For those of you praying for a wildcard, the Cardinals now dropped to 3.5 games back of the final 3rd wildcard spot (Padres 54-45 )
Redbirds currently in the 6th spot ..with Reds/Giants tied with 52-48 records while Cardinals at 51-49

Oh a positive for today .. Jordan Walker had a good day at the plate ... 2 for 3 with , walk, single, double Nice day ! Nobody else in the lineup could muster 2 hits today .

It's tough to put anything together when you're 5 runs down by the 2nd or 3rd inning. The opposing pitcher can be more aggressive and the players trying to hit 5 run homers.

Plus I can only imagine the opposition team's scouting report for our games . The coaches at the daily 'hitters' meeting are saying .. Now go out there and be aggressive swinging in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd innings ( your first at bats going thru the lineup ) . The Cards pitchers are giving up a lot of HR's and extra base hits . So don't be passive taking pitches . Anything close to looking good .. Swing at it ! We can bury them early .

Walker also had a nice drive Friday night that would have been a likely double if not for the great catch by their CF Thomas.
A sign of life by JW anyway.
Now the Cards travel to the thin atmosphere of Mars.
Breathe JW, breathe, you never know how much runway is left. Time to take flight.
