Not necessarily an Oli hater here but my guess is the guy has no clue as to what he is doing. Just an assumption..ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 13:00 pm Second game off the all star break it was an odd decision.

No sense of urgency because he doesn’t mind losing for the learning experience.slimjay63801 wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 13:02 pmNot necessarily an Oli hater here but my guess is the guy has no clue as to what he is doing. gray made the mess.. he can eat the innings

Pretty obvious The Marmot was simply throwing in the towel on the game and saw an opportunity to save the pitch mileage on Gray's arm.
More concerning to me it the team was in no position to compete on that field coming out of the break.
Clear breakdown in coaching.

Two lifeless looking games in a row. Definately on the coaching staff..Melville wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 13:12 pm Pretty obvious The Marmot was simply throwing in the towel on the game and saw an opportunity to save the pitch mileage on Gray's arm.

I too wondered why Oli left Gray out there to take a beating.
Okay crazy but............
Could they be trying to pizzzzzzzzz Gray off so he'll waive his NTC?

But no need for bullpen saving anymore coming out of the allstar break when all are fresh.

Very perplexing… It was one thing when the run count was 4, then 5 runs but no urgency beyond that. That to me was the baffling part. Wondered what the fielders were thinking watching the ball being knocked for hits all over the park. We’re they thinking…When is enough enough.

Gray was on five days rest. Should and could have started game one and the second half with our big gun. Instead, we start a number five. And how do you avoid Chicago.
His selection of games recently leaves some to think.

Walker and Scott badly misplayed balls in the outfield and turned 2 doubles into triples.slimjay63801 wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 13:14 pmTwo lifeless looking games in a row. Clear breakdown in coaching.
Not recorded as errors, but blunders none the less.
Clearly, they had not done the prep required to understand and anticipate the angles and caroms unique to that ballpark.
Additionally, Scott continues to take bad routes which allows hits that should be cut off to instead go all the way to the wall.
And, you may have noticed Walker completely checked out in game 1 of the series and forgot to back up 1B.
Just awful coaching.
But it gets even worse.
The D' Backs have blown 30 leads this year because the bullpen in one of the worst 3 in MLB.
And yet in the lest 2 games STL has allowed starters to complete 6 or 7 innings with extremely low pitch counts - a huge gift to AZ.
Not understanding the critical need to work pitches and elevate the D' Back starters pitch counts in the first 5 innings of each contest, thereby giving STL hitters a chance to attack the BP, shows gross negligence on the part of The Marmot - who actually instructed STL hitters to swing early in pitch counts.
Bad coaching shows up time after time after time with this team.
