Stone is coming off major shoulder surgery, a big stay away from for me. Ryan coming off TJ but he had some shoulder issues prior so that too is risky for a guy most likely a mid rotation pitcher who will be 27 next year. Dodgers have 4 highly rated outfield prospects that the Cards should go after one of them. Sirota is 22 and having a great year. He is their #6 prospect and 4th rated outfield prospect so they could view him as expendable. He’s a right handed speedy centerfielder with 15 to 20 homers per year potential. He’s in his first year of pro ball doing great in high A ball with a .333
average, .452 obp and .616 slugging with 14 homers. I would ask for him and Ryan

It was more than 4 times higher during the offseason. But of course, "it will be higher at the trade deadline".

Same deal for Fedde.

We could have taken the $16M saved and signed a couple of other relievers which we could be trading now.

Still, even though we foolishly did not take the better opportunity which is now gone, we should trade Matz, Maton, Helsley, Fedde now.

Before trading them, Maton and Helsley should be offered 2 or 3 year extensions at a reasonable rate. Most likely they will decline, but if they really want to stay in St Louis we might get a hometown discount. Maton would likely accept $21 to $24M/3yr. He's never made that much money but he's been consistently both good and healthy. Helsley probably dreams of big bucks which the Cards should not offer.
