Dodgers triage unit trade
The Dodgers need bullpen help and a corner OF. They have two pitchers likely not going to pitch this year in Gavin Stone and River Ryan. Would Helsley and Nootbar be enough for them? Both have front of the rotation potential.
Re: Dodgers triage unit trade
Interesting thought.
Would the est. combined values of Noot and Helsley about equal either one of those SP prospects?

Re: Dodgers triage unit trade
I'm not sure how the values work out. But my thought is that Stone and Ryan are likely at a low point in value and likely aren't going to be in the Dodgers rotation next year. So I think Helsley and Nootbar could have good value packaged together. But maybe getting both pitchers is to big of an ask
Re: Dodgers triage unit trade
Idk, but would guess the Cards would need to add more to get both.billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 12:18 pmI'm not sure how the values work out. Re: Dodgers triage unit trade
That's the kind of trade that could really help a dubious Cardinals' starting pitching rotation. Especially, for the next few seasons. Miller could be an option, too.billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 11:55 am The Dodgers need bullpen help and a corner OF. FWIW, BTV numbers (with a grain of salt):billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 11:55 am The Dodgers need bullpen help and a corner OF. Nootbaar: 21.1
Helsley: 2.6
Total: 23.7
Stone: 11.9
Ryan: 5.0
Total: 16.9
BTV doesn’t attribute huge value to Stone/Ryan/Miller.
Re: Dodgers triage unit trade
Helsley at 2.6 is gonna cause some heads to explode.

Thanks for the current est. values.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 12:38 pmFWIW, BTV numbers (with a grain of salt):billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 11:55 am The Dodgers need bullpen help and a corner OF. Maybe Billy, maybe.
Adding to the potential SP rotation depth and hoping to get lucky with one of them breaking out in 2026 is a decent plan.
Just insuring against SP injury wipeout with numbers could be key.

Helsley is only a 2.6?NYCardsFan wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 12:38 pmFWIW, BTV numbers (with a grain of salt):billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 11:55 am The Dodgers need bullpen help and a corner OF. I would kick the tires on Bobby Miller as well. Good, strong arm, but injured I believe. Yes I know how that sounds.

Re: Dodgers triage unit trade
From an intrinsic value perspective, it directionally makes sense: he’s a roughly 65 IP/yr reliever with less than half a season left, and he makes decent money ($8.2mm)—Not a lot of surplus value left in that contract. Of course, that doesn’t mean some team won’t pay more for a critical (and above-average-value) marginal win in pursuit of a playoff berth (and beyond).

Do these values change from day to day or are these from the start of the year?NYCardsFan wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 12:38 pmFWIW, BTV numbers (with a grain of salt):billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 11:55 am The Dodgers need bullpen help and a corner OF. They change through the year, but the values above are as of this past week.billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 13:08 pmDo these values change from day to day or are these from the start of the year?NYCardsFan wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 12:38 pmFWIW, BTV numbers (with a grain of salt):billybaseball wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 11:55 am The Dodgers need bullpen help and a corner OF. Thanks NY.
Billy, I think they change about weekly.
