Legitimate Question About City From Simple Fan

Post by bgwinn01 »

I was all enthused about MLS and City when they started here. Loved Season One and have been an Apple+ subscriber for the games since. And although I learned a lot from watching, I was never a player myself or knowledgeable about the game much. I am confused about the roster construction and all the trades and moves that are made, but that's ok. But why has the team been so poor since the first season? I admit I'm naive but I don't get how it could have been so great and then became so bad seemingly overnight. Coaches have changed etc. But what seems to be the main problem here? Not paying the players enough or what? Thanks for any insights. I want to see them succeed and not just fall by the wayside in STL.

They rushed onto the scene and with their pressing style made things happen.

The roster was paper thin though. They struggled if they had a mid-week game and wanted to rest some starters. The other problem was as the season wore on teams had video on them.

Last year they tried the same pressing style last year as well and teams had figured it out. Carnell was unwilling or unable to change. Hack worth was helped in the second half by Becher, Teichert and Hartel. Klauss was poor in season two.
Louwen was out a significant time last year as well for personal reasons. That hurt.

Unfortunately they didn’t continue to add those types of players this year. The other problem is Hartel, Teuchert and Becher have not performed as they did last year. Klauss has done better recently.Louwen has also been out a lot this year as well. That has hurt again.

They have also had a lot of injuries this year.

The next person who should lose their job is Lutz if they don’t turn around.

You questions are very generic, so if you want real answers, then you need to be a little more specific.

Can you be more specific about which player on the roster confuses you?

Which three trades or moves were made that surprised you the most?

Which players do you feel are under paid?
