Poor development
Not sure it was the best idea to publicly acknowledge how understaffed the organization was developmentally before this season. Imagine you’re a struggling young player and you’re really trying hard to listen to the coaches and instructors throughout the system only to be told you may have been adversely affected by this organization.
I can’t imagine you wouldn’t be questioning whether you might be better off somewhere else before you lose your career. I think we might be seeing some of that showing thru in the lack of focus in the ABs from the prospects.
Now imagine having Oli as your manager and Mo as the GM.

Re: Poor development
I can’t imagine what the hell BDW/Mo were thinking when they decided their mid market baseball team with a limit to resources was better off by cutting their coaching staff and training facilities. They were a steady top 5 attendance drawing team (3+ million) but knew they were limited in their local TV deal.
No matter what you are able to invest, your lifeline has to be in development of your youth. Just an unbelievable decision to make cuts here and developing the talent you bring on board.

More of that coaches bull[shirt]? Really? Every (bleep) one of these players has played the game and watched the game being played their whole lives. Please, stop with the coaches bull[shirt]. That was an obvious ploy by ownership to cut payroll and make excuses for it.

They saw a cash cow. They incorrectly thought the fanbase would support then no matter what. They were also to stubborn to see their business model was extremely outdated.Whatashame wrote: ↑19 Jul 2025 22:17 pm I can’t imagine what BDW/Mo were thinking when they decided their mid market baseball team with a limit to resources was better off by cutting their coaching staff and training facilities. Re: Poor development
Not as bewildering as the reason. Who was fired for creating that model? The Cardinals say that those cuts were to use the $ on the MLB payroll. If that is the case then the Cardinals need new ownership. Furthermore with the influx of $50m from last off season we should have the best farm in baseball by now. Follow the $. Dewitt lies to the fans as an excuse.swatski wrote: ↑19 Jul 2025 22:03 pm Not sure it was the best idea to publicly acknowledge how understaffed the organization was developmentally before this season. When Mo-ran is the face of the front office and is a smug, arrogant jerk, you see the results with fans not attending...I'm part of a season tix group in a Section 148...at least 50% of the Section is empty...and there is no energy from the team or fans

Re: Poor development
Anyone with 1/2 of a brain could see this team has not been honest with the fans the last off season. Their motive was strictly cost cutting, not a rebuild as they were selling.Cranny wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 07:23 amAcknowledged. Amen. These aren't kids coming out of high school. At this stage in their career, they're either good players, or they're not. Put the bat on the ball, and make solid contact. This is the MLB. Its roster construction, period. The teams leader in HRs has 12. Thats not a result of incompetent instructional teaching. Its lack of talent. They cant steal bases. Lack of talent. Can't pitch consistently. Lack of talent. The best coaches in the world cant change that.CCard wrote: ↑19 Jul 2025 23:49 pm More of that coaches bull[shirt]? Really? Re: Poor development
Perhaps the play for ole BDW is to have the Bananas as the Home team going forward……

We haven’t had time to determine whether this is a reset or money coup.
We wanted to cut costs. That has barely happened. Goldie. When the deadline comes and the off season, you will then see the intent. Too early now.
