I think they got really goes to overall slot, but didn't go into the 5% territory.

I'm fine with that. They signed all 21 players....they've never had a perfect signing draft

I believe they came in at $35,700 under their bonus pool (99.75%) and $747,615 under their 5% absolute max.

Under slot: Doyle ($884,800), Van Dyke ($40,500)
Over slot: Mitchell ($529,700), Young ($159,900), Crossland ($100,000), Breckheimer ($50,000), Flores ($25,000), Echeman ($25,000)

With the caveat that it's always easier to spend someone else's money, I don't really see any reason to leave money on the table. Personally, I'd take a gamble on the 11th round on some tough HS sign on the off chance that they change their mind. Or at the very least, grab someone in the 19th or 20th round to throw whatever money is leftover and see what shakes out. Last year, they took Brendan Lawson who was committed to Florida but wasn't likely to sign. The guys being drafted that late aren't any different than the guys you're signing as UDFA. Same thing with Cameron Johnson a year prior. Yeah, they're probably not signing but on the off chance they do you get someone who probably would have gone much higher off the board than they did.
