Gray willing to waive NTC?
Watching pod cast today and Erik Ktatz stated while Sonny wasn’t willing to waive his NTC in the off season he told him he may be willing to waive it to go to a contender at the trade deadline
Re: Gray willing to waive NTC?
He’s coming up on 36…..easy to understand he might want an opportunity to win…
Although that 35 mil he is owed next year will scare a lot of teams off…
Re: Gray willing to waive NTC?
Interesting that he doesn’t think he’s currently on a contender…..or the club can be formed into a contender
There’s Always Next Year…..

Re: Gray willing to waive NTC?
Bet if the Reds wanted him ( was with them previously ) he would waive to them as he previously has said the reason he signed with Cardinals was that St. Louis wasn't too far from his Nashville area home. Cincy would be even closer .

Can they afford him?ramfandan wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 17:27 pmBet if the Reds wanted him ( was with them previously ) he would waive to them as he previously has said the reason he signed with Cardinals was that St. Louis wasn't too far from his Nashville area home. Cincy would be even closer .

It makes sense to waive it at the deadline instead of in the offseason. In the offseason you may get traded to a team that seems like a contender in the offseason but turns out to be a non contender while at the deadline it will almost certainly be to a contender

Wonder if Atlanta would have interest? Or if he would agree to join NYY, Boston, TOR, LA, or SD? Would Mo dare trade him to the Cubs or Brewers?
Re: Gray willing to waive NTC?
The context of the OP doesn't say when Sonny said this. He might have said it before the season began. So, he might believe in this team...

If Sonny will waive his ntc he's gone imo. That doesn’t mean I believe that report.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 18:09 pmI saw that. Kratz wasn't quoting Sonny Gray, he was speculating.
Re: Gray willing to waive NTC?
There is zero truth to the story.
Gray has been very clear he has zero interest in playing far from home.
The currently contending teams who could afford him happen to be in the very locations in which he has no interest.
He goes nowhere at the deadline.

Cincinnati is indeed closer to Nashville, by a whole 15 miles.ramfandan wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 17:27 pmBet if the Reds wanted him ( was with them previously ) he would waive to them as he previously has said the reason he signed with Cardinals was that St. Louis wasn't too far from his Nashville area home. Though I honestly trust the Cardinals to be more of a contender and spend money than I do Cincinnati.

What part of contender led you to the Braves?JuanAgosto wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 17:37 pm Wonder if Atlanta would have interest? Or if he would agree to join NYY, Boston, TOR, LA, or SD? Would Mo dare trade him to the Cubs or Brewers?
