C Alex Birge California .231/.415/.582 with Cal this year 12 HR 40 BB-51 K in 178 PA. He put up pretty good summer league numbers the last 3 years.

RHP Bobby Olsen Villanova Ugly college numbers (6.01 ERA in 176 IP in his college career) but good summer league numbers (2.96 ERA in 76 IP). Olsen pitched 3 years at Brown, 1 year at Nebraska, and 1 year at Villanova. This past year he had a 6.19 ERA with 59 K’s in 56.2 IP for Villanova.
Birge video...yep he's a power hitter https://x.com/CalBaseball/status/1903291570780246472

apparently, Olsen has been tearing apart the Draft League.... from @Redirdsfarmhand ~ "impressive MLB Draft League stint where he has posted a 3.56 ERA in 30.1 innings"

a controlled league for players looking to up their stock/get noticed....after their college career is done. It's ingenious move by MLB. Really helps the UDFA and Day 2 of the draft.

The Angels signed 1st-rounder Tyler Bremner to a $7,689,525 deal. Slot value for the 2nd overall pick is $10,252,700.

A $2,563,175 under slot deal.

---------

I guess Doyle wouldn't have gone for the FULL 75% floor like Bremner did. Angels really wanted the max savings to sign something else.

If there was ever a Organization that has done everything wrong in the draft since 2010, it's the Angels.

wow !
and that explains WHY they took Bremner at #2

a good deal for Bremner
he wouldn't have gotten anywhere near that at the spot(s) he was mocked at being taken.

I mean, I can at least understand their logic in it even if I don't agree with it. The extra $1.2M that the Angels saved by passing on Kade Anderson could be used elsewhere. I have to imagine Liam Doyle wasn't willing to do 75% of the slot value.
