There is nothing out there supporting this so unless you know inside info that hasn’t been reported, you’re pulling it out of your (bleep)
Lots of people in the know say that. That he wanted that. That his family was excited at the prospect too. Him driving the bus and his family supporting/wanting. His behavior right away indicated it too. Saying he wanted to be there forever.
If you listen to his words after…it supports it too. He said Florida “came to my lap.” He had choice.? He chose it.
Tkachuk drove this process. He had lots of power in it.
He def had power because he could say who he’d sign with but I’ve seen nothing that supports any claim that he only wanted Florida or even preferred it. The Panthers were on his list as were the Blues and Carolina. These were the teams he said he’d sign with, thereby getting CGY top return. The Panthers made the offer CGY liked best. MT signed accordingly.
Beyond that is pure speculation unless, again, you have sources that aren’t public.
Please point me to people in the know saying anything more. I genuinely mean that bc I’m very interested in this particular trade.
I never said he “only” wanted Florida. In his situation you don’t come and say I’m only going to Florida. You don’t handcuff your team or yourself like that. You accept that right. It’s basic business
He weighed his options and chose Florida. It’s what he wanted in the end. You can believe whatever you want. No hard feelings

Ofc no hard feelings but I don’t understand where you’re getting that he chose Florida. He wasn’t a free agent. He worked in tandem w the Flames for sure but nothing says if CGY likes an offer from the Blues better (such as one that included Kyrou instead of trash) that he doesn’t sign in STL just the same

He wasn’t a free agent.
But he really was. The Flames and him created a little mini market and he made his choice. He said it was his choice. It’s obvious. He could have said no. “Florida fell in my lap” you don’t say that without choosing it

Yep. I’m not going to pretend that I know what Matthew feels in his heart of hearts but it’s undeniable that Florida’s offer was better than the Blues rumored offer.

KT said he was thrilled to be in Florida….but it was after the trade and after he signed. No matter what team of the 3 he wanted to play for….they would have gotten the same lip service. If the Blues traded for him….I’m sure he would have said “It’s been a dream to play for my hometown team”. Seriously, who is going to trash the team that just dealt for you?
Another dumb claim from princess….
I’m still waiting for Adin Hill to start for Team Canada….”everybody is talking about it…”

Doesn’t fit with your thinking…so yeah must be lip service. Nobody tells the truth. “Florida fell in my lap” he agreed. He chose.
I agree with you all players are trained to say this is where i wanted to be. Can you name one player who acccepted a trade somewhere and said yeah [fork] it thats why i am here lol.

Berglund was not happy to leave the Blues....
I think if a team is on your acceptable trade list it means you are willing to go there...especially if you are the player that wants out of town.
People conveniently forget that no one knows what the Blues offered to Calgary, but I seriously doubt it came close to the haul that Calgary received from Florida (D-man Weegar 44 pts with a +40 , LW Huberdeau who was coming off a 115 pt season and was +35, and a 1st).
The Blues had no chance....MT ended up in Florida because Calgary made the best offer. Plain and simple.

“Blues are motivated to move the contract”
Kyrou allegedly told his agent “of course yes” when asked if he would accept a move.
In our world--Do not take what you read as facts. Do some homework. Read up. These two statements are not true. Hearsay your honor. They are based on hearsay and now paraded as facts to push an agenda vs our beloved st louis blues.
How do you know what Kyrou said?
How do you know the Blues motivations? Coach loves the player. Gm respects the players numbers and seems to understand the value of a Kyrou.
If he is fielding calls--why wouldn't he. It's his job. How can you confirm he's actively shopping the player? All rumors and speculation. No facts.
This whole thread is garrulous.

Coach loves the player.
21 year old rookies with zero playoff experience getting more ice when it matters. So much love and trust.

HE got rocked. I look at the whole body of work. Hell of a season. WE need him. If they move him, so be it. I don't think they will and I'm ok with it. He has room for improvement in the playoffs.

2 coaches have given amount of time in a series. His ATOI had nothing to do with that hit.
2 coaches have often given him 15 minutes when it counts. It speaks volumes. Ice time is the currency that matters most to coaches and players
Off Topic: Anyone see the movie Split (or even Glass)? I sometimes wonder what type of mental issue the main character has who often talks to himself and carries on a conversation with himself through alternate personalities. While medication has come a long way, there are still a lot of people like this in society. I think social media has made it worse as now we have places these people can make alternate accounts just to agree with themselves so they feel part of a group or clique, which sometimes delays their requests for real help. If you can afford it please give a small contribution to the medical research needed to take the next step in changing these people’s lives for the better.
