I have Sirius XM radio and listen to quite a few non-Blues games. I get a kick out of those who say "Kerber is terrible" or "Kelly is terrible". They obviously haven't heard the many, truly awful play by play announcers out there. Some are worse than finger nails on a chalk board! We've been extremely lucky to have two excellent play by play guys in Kerber and Kelly.
[/quote]

Echo this opinion. I listen to other broadcast teams on NHL radio on occasion. Most of them are hard to listen to/hard to follow. Then with the Blues broadcast, it seems like its a relief [vs others] to be able to enjoy the flow of the game. I will throw a bone to the Toronto radio play by play guy. (Joe Bowen? an olde timer). He is real good.

to me, this comes down to who takes over color/analyst for booth

kerber was carried by Chase, those are facts

But chaser has been gone, and weve heard how bad vitale is, and how average kerbs is w/o a chaser in the booth.

So it's insert analyst from last seasons tv vs vitale, and dead air as analyst beats Vitale. HE and the clown from 101.1,Ferrario are just horrible, and fans got forced to listen to them on radio.

Expect a lot more Vitale, Ferrario, and strickland. Fans lose out on this

I sincerely believe that Vitale will give someone like Pang a call and ask him what he needs to do/change for tv so that it works better.

He's not an idiot, just not entirely focused.

I'd prefer a broadcast with Kelly and Pang, but fact of the matter is economics have changed and the teams have to change with them.

I enjoy Kerber and Vitale makes me laugh from time to time so this change makes little to no difference to me.

it'll be a rough first 20 or so games, but they'll get it figured out and by the end of the year people will still (buzz) and complain because that's what people do. They (whined) and complained about Kelly and Pang all the time as well and constantly asked when we could get someone better in the booth. I mean we had numerous people state that they would mute the tv and turn on the radio broadcast.

Well yeah opinions are everywhere. If you think this duo is better than the last that's how you roll but it's really about a much broader consensus than individuals.

That's just on talent to say nothing of tradition and valuable name brand that was built over the years with the Kelly's.

And insert John Kelly over Kerbs......what's the economic upside besides their salary difference for choosing Kerber?

Fans I have spoken to are 9-1 in bewilderment.

many of those opinions were plastered on this board.

When Kelly helped oust Wilson, was that tradition or name brand recognition?

Well the big difference was one has a contract while the others had expired.

Many people don't like the move, I get it.

But to say that all of a sudden Tom Stillman is awful and many other superlatives because of this is just stupid.

To be fair, there are some real good ones. The Toronto voice, as you stated. The Islanders guy I think is very good. Red Wings guy is good, and I've always liked John Forslund with the Kraken. But in my opinion (and that's really a lot of what it boils down to, opinion/personal preference) there are many who are just horrible and difficult to listen to.

Chicago brought in a rookie to be paired with Pang two seasons ago and him alone made the broadcast effin brutal. I can see this happening with Vitale...dude is a goofball.

But this one here has got me pizzzed and unless there is some bazaar under story to explain it it's not the Blues franchise under Stillman and others that I have known and respected.

And we are not alone on this.

I’ll keep saying this for the new readers who would not go back to read the whole thread; srv1990 and roadkill writes:

My point is Kerber will miss games like he did last season land we’ll get some announcers & color”men” that are extremely hard to tolerate. The team we once enjoyed watching will be hard to listen to some games when there are subs.
My proposal is to rotate Kerber and Kelly so that we have two professional and Blues fans announcers every game instead of some generic nothing burger or a DEI hire. I still say the broadcast is entertainment and not just a play-by-play. Vitale does a credible job.
I want homers like Kerber and Kelly who can follow the play every game
