Re: updated top 10 prospects
Chen-Wei Lin is going to last one month in Kiley McDaniel’s rankings once he finds out that he’s hurt.
Still no love for Joshua Baez.
Still no love for Joshua Baez.

Not a bad list, probably still overvalues Hence a bit. Lin is back on the IL, hasn't really been able to take off this season after his Spring Training injury.
Again, not a bad list at all.
Our farm is getting better. Maybe we can get a lot 40-45 rated players to bolster our middle rankings (10-30) at the trade deadline. I don't expect any signifcant 50-55 rated players coming our way

Roby is hurt again. Availability has to be a major consideration of all prospects. If they can't play, they can't promote or contribute.Shady wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 15:35 pmMcGreevy at #10. getting better. Maybe another year of drafting like we did last year and this year before we can really delve deep into drafting HS kids. I now figure that we haven't been doing that b/c we had a severe need of more polished hitters/pitchers...and we very much did need those.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 15:36 pmIt really does say a lot though when a guy like Baez is probably barely in the top 10 in the system now.craviduce wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 15:34 pmis this your list?Carp4Cy wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 15:30 pm A good amount of movement here. I don't think we were ready to take on a Seth Hernandez type....from a depth standpoint and an R&D stand point. The Pirates have the R&D...and they have the pitching depth to be patient with Hernandez.

Agree. ESPN hasn't been a worthy sports source in over a decade. Shame, really!Melville wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 16:00 pmESPN is terrible for all things MLB.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 15:30 pm A good amount of movement here. Also, who cares where someone ranks a prospect. People, including the Cardinals, need to worry less about prospect ranking/status and more about actual production.
Personally, I couldn’t care less how many prospects we can collect. What I'd really like? To have a good MLB team to root for again that's serious about competing!!
Re: updated top 10 prospects ESPN
Ok, ersatz Genius - give us your top 10 so we can compare in a year or two. Any idiot can criticize; an intelligent person offers solutions. That's how I know you're not very smart.Melville wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 16:00 pmESPN is terrible for all things MLB.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 15:30 pm A good amount of movement here. PS - "'Ersatz genius' refers to someone who appears to be, or is claimed to be, exceptionally intelligent or talented, but is actually a fake or a poor imitation of a true genius. It implies a superficial or artificial brilliance, lacking the depth and genuine creativity of a real genius."
In other words - it's you!
Re: updated top 10 prospects ESPN
take this FWIW, but Kiley McDaniel has done a pretty exceptional job at ESPN.com. I agree that ESPN.com is as shell of its glory days from 2007-2013 (when they stopped their Chat section to every game/story....funny thing, almost every tried to go to CNN/SI.com, and we wrecked their chat section, and they closed it)
The last few years McDaniel has give you a reason to peruse ESPN. 1 of the only reasons I go their.
I give McDaniel a Top 7 or 8 pundit ranking

Re: updated top 10 prospects ESPN
Is that Chen Wei's second trip to the IL this season?
Re: updated top 10 prospects ESPN
Watched Wei-Lin a couple times this year, and wasn’t impressed with control/command. He’d still be outside my Top 10. Currently, my top 10 likely:
1) Wetherholt
2) Doyle
3) Mathews
4) Bernal
5) Hence
6) Rodriguez
7) Crooks
Roby
9) Baez
10) Padilla
Could have gone either way on Baez/Roby.
