Hope Mo is seriously looking for a good return for Helsley.

In about two weeks. Mo needs about 3 or 4 teams bidding for Helsley. At least two. Namely the Phillies and Dodgers.

I don't know......Montgomery has been BAD since he left. We got a serviceable lefty in King, a possible future rotation piece in Roby, and the Texas League Batting Title winner in Saggese, who I think is going to be a really nice player once he gets some runway.

I would settle for a similar return for Helsley at the deadline.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:06 pmI don't know......Montgomery has been BAD since he left. Agree.....but, if you sell Helsley, you are punting the season - something I'm not for just yet.Shady wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:12 pmI would settle for a similar return for Helsley at the deadline.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:06 pmI don't know......Montgomery has been BAD since he left. Unless within 3 in the division at the deadline, Mo needs to "cut the cord", hopefully, for the future.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:16 pmAgree.....but, if you sell Helsley, you are punting the season - something I'm not for just yet.Shady wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:12 pmI would settle for a similar return for Helsley at the deadline.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:06 pmI don't know......Montgomery has been BAD since he left. Maybe. I think a team can make up 3 games in 2 months, though. I asked a question/made a trade proposal in another thread that I think might allow us to do both (compete and create a clean slate for Bloom). See what you think.Shady wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:20 pmUnless within 3 in the division at the deadline, Mo needs to "cut the cord", hopefully, for the future.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:16 pmAgree.....but, if you sell Helsley, you are punting the season - something I'm not for just yet.Shady wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:12 pmI would settle for a similar return for Helsley at the deadline.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:06 pmI don't know......Montgomery has been BAD since he left. I think I already have. If not, I will. Ideally it would be nice to make some trades to improve the team for the future and still remain very competitive for at least a wildcard spot this season.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:28 pmMaybe. I dont think relievers have as much value as you think you do
Re: Hope Mo is seriously looking for a good return for Helsley.
nonsense, the cards could trade helesley and improve...he is attractive to contenders because he can be dominant but this seasn he hasnt been anything special and the cards have some good arms in the penCardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:16 pmAgree.....but, if you sell Helsley, you are punting the season - something I'm not for just yet.Shady wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:12 pmI would settle for a similar return for Helsley at the deadline.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:06 pmI don't know......Montgomery has been BAD since he left. I think it is very hard to remove a high octane closer from your pen and believe truly competitive down the stretch for a playoff chase. Who would close? Maton? Maybe, but that just creates more holes to fill. Our pen has been average at best, with a lot of guys riding thr shuttle to Memphis who haven't been partcualry good (Roycroft, O'Brien, Svanson, Munoz, etc.)jbrach wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 18:16 pmnonsense, the cards could trade helesley and improve...he is attractive to contenders because he can be dominant but this seasn he hasnt been anything special and the cards have some good arms in the penCardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:16 pmAgree.....but, if you sell Helsley, you are punting the season - something I'm not for just yet.Shady wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:12 pmI would settle for a similar return for Helsley at the deadline.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:06 pmI don't know......Montgomery has been BAD since he left. Re: Hope Mo is seriously looking for a good return for Helsley.
The trade deadline is two weeks from today. If the Cardinals are still barely hanging on, Mo needs to hope at least one team feels Helsley is still a dominant closer.

This might be rather obvious. But I like an idea a heard on the radio. Shop Helsley for a quality return. Not for quantity. Tell every team that is interested in Helsley, we're looking for the top prospect we can get. Then see what the offers are.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 12:07 pmMany teams will want him.
