I suppose you need a subscription to the NYT to see them all, but here's the top 10:

Re: NYT Best 100 films of the 21st Century.
How about a list of the most overrated movies of the 21st century? At this point, it seems like Mad Max: Fury Road has edged out Under the Skin, The Social Network, and even the almighty No Country For Old Men--all of which are at least pretentious enough to pretend they're about something more than 'splosions.
Nomadland seems like a strange omission. Also, no Drive My Car?
I'm pleased that Uncut Gems and City of God got some love.

Agreed. Though not surprising, given that movie's status among critics. Same with Mulholland Drive.

No, no. This list is different. It’s more inclusive with 9 movies with LGQTB themes.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 15:52 pmAgreed. Though not surprising, given that movie's status among critics. Same with Mulholland Drive.

The list is pretty shysse. The finest foreign films largely given short shrift. Slobbering over Parasite doesn't cover that sin. The readers list is about as bad.

I agree about heavily weighting the LGBT angle. These are the times in which we live - otoh, those running the government go the other way as bad or worse. Culture wars in full swing.
