RIP David Cousins

British musician David Cousins has passed away at the age of 85. Cousins founded his band the Strawbs in the mid sixties and over the years they released at least 23 studio albums. They had many personnel changes and at one time their members included Sandy Denny and Rick Wakeman. Cousins was a guitarist and singer, and wrote most of the Strawbs' songs.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Strawbs, they began as mostly a folk quartet, but by the mid seventies they could be described as more progressive or prog-folk. Their biggest LP's were released at this time; Ghosts and Hero and Heroine. I first heard the band in 1971, on their album From the Witchwood. One of my favorite Cousins' compositions is this song:
