He's not a great defender either. If we do sell anyone this month, we don't need more prospects/suspects who A. won't arrive in the majors for 2 more years from now, and B. still "need more time" once they get here before they can actually contribute at a positive WAR level. This roster and our minors are full of potential JAGs - we need a small handful of stars.

I think he will hit eventually, with regular play and needs a position. Unloading Arenado would help some of the young players get more regular playing time. I thought that was the purpose of this season, and it is looking more and more like the season should be dedicated to finding out which young guys will stick, and which ones will fail to pan out. I agree, not a good fielder.

I think of Saggese as a Jed Gyorko type. And remember Jed Gyorko had very good numbers in the minors too like Saggese did. If we get a few seasons where he fills in for injured players (3B, a little 2B, some LF) and collects 20 hr 60 rbi, I'd say he's a valuable enough piece.

If he becomes Gyrko, that a valuable piece. He’s 23 years old with 142 career AB. He has hit at every level of minor leagues. Texas League player of the year. He may very well be a jag but let’s give him a chance to prove he’s not before we drop that label on him.

Possibly - but with the rate JJW is climbing the ladder, TS isn't going to have very long to prove before we need to make some roster decisions.

He can’t prove anything if not given opportunity. Why he was not given reps in the OF at Memphis sooner is inexcusable. We pursue RH bats like Vilade and Hampson instead. BTW - there should be room on this roster for both JJW and Saggese especially if you look at Saggese as an OF candidate.

I’m not impressed with him yet. Maybe steady playing time will help.

3 walks 23 strikeouts. At AAA he had improved his BB to K ratio this season compared to 2024 but is obviously swinging at bad pitches.

And stars aren't typically traded away......unless their names are Arozarena, Garcia, Alcantara for example.

Holliday, Arenado, Goldschmidt...oh wait.

The problem with Saggese is that he had too much success early in the season and created false expectations.

Looks like a utility infielder at best but needs a chance to see if he can make adjustments- admittedly he looks overmatched at the plate most of the time.
