In 30 cities around the country, there are followers of the local club who that believe their pick is a “can’t miss”.
They won’t all be right…

A starter, along w/S. Gray, who gets strikeouts!
This kid could be the answer, let's hope he is.
I think under Bloom/Cerfolio we see him no later than May, perhaps even on OD if he has a great spring.
They will not rush this kid. They should not rush this kid.
You need to get your enthusiasm under control, brother.
You aren't "rushing" an SEC college pitcher w/his kind of stuff satch!
Lunacy would be keeping him in the minor leagues if he shows this spring that he's got the secondary pitches to get major league hitters out.
I hope that kind of thinking goes out the door w/Mo.

Same applies to JJW. All American college talent that is MLB ready isn't being rushed when they get to the show in months to a year.
It means you drafted the right guy.

You should ask yourself what that says about Cards Talk....Cusecards wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 19:48 pm SMH....I sure hope so!
I had no idea who the Cards should pick but I have seen Doyle listed as a top 5 prospect in most rankings.
However....in the less than 3 hours since being drafted I have learned from Cards Talk that:
* He may have an eating disorder?
* He may have attitude issues?
* He may have no secondary pitches?
* He may have temper problems or even be a borderline psychopath?
Yikes!!!
What does that say about the guys ranked behind him?????

I'd have JJW up here no later than Sept 1st, sooner if he keeps crushing AAA.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 10:56 am^thisrockondlouie wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 10:47 amHa!imetsatchelpaige wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 09:47 amLunacy.rockondlouie wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 08:38 am What have the Cardinals need?

These two are TOP LEVEL college talents, the likes of which we haven't seen here since JD Drew!
If they show they're ready, then the sooner the better.

Re: Many of you will be eating crow
You set people up for success, not failure. This guy is a hot head. He needs to do some minor league pitching and experience some things , on that stage .instead of the big stage. Teams baiting him, loss of pitch control in a pro game etc etc..... Also, I dont see how you have a feasible season long roster if you count on this guy as one of the starting 5 opening day. He has to be the 6th starter. And it seems like if you had him on roster on opening day, he would go what, 4 innings in his starts? there are multiple good reasons to start him in the minors.

A- April, May
AA-June, July
AAA- August, Sept
2027 Work stoppage- then MLB
This is actually an aggressive schedule

No. It's decided. . Based on years of watching him pitch.Cusecards wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 20:41 pmCould be?Youboughtit wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 20:36 pmSounds like a closer to me.Cusecards wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 20:05 pmSome goof has a thread today that he had to lose 19 pounds his last season LOL.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 19:53 pmI read that scouts think his secondary pitches are fine. No reason to rush him of course.
If he stinks he’ll be called a “nut job”.
If he’s great he’ll be called “colorful”!
I think we can give him at least a few weeks to decide his future?

Re: Many of you will be eating crow
I don't mind rushing pitchers. They mostly just execute their same few pitches over and over.
I think rushing hitters is often foolish. There are few who have no flaws that MLB pitchers can immediately find to exploit.
It is hard to make major adjustments while facing MLB pitchers and playing in games that count.
As a GM, your job is to draft/sign, develop, and then maximize the value each player contributes to the MLB team. It is not to promote guys as early as possible so they can reach arbitration and free agency sooner even if they hurt the MLB team's results for much of their 3 minimum salary years.

Re: Many of you will be eating crow
Regardless of age or tenure, someone is not being rushed if they are ready.
When Doyle shows he is ready, he should be moved up accordingly. There should be no preset or arbitrary timeline. Every player and situation should be viewed and judged separately and independently.

I’d agree. Do you think they operate with a matrix. Guided by time, not results.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 08:18 am Regardless of age or tenure, someone is not being rushed if they are ready.
