Its crazy to think in a so called weak draft we get Carbonneau at 19 overall when dvorsky was a 10oa the year before.

Dvorsky is definitely our best prospect. I'm obviously a Carbonneau fan saying that

I’d order them a little differently but whatever. It’s a matter of opinion. The average team would have 3 guys in the top-100 so having 5 is pretty good. And Jiricek and Stenberg were in the 80s/90s on Wheeler’s list the last time he did this so they’d likely be not too outside the top-100 now too. We don’t have a likely future superstar stud but we have 6-7 guys that all project to be needle moving caliber players.

What are realistic expectations for Dvorsky? I understand the timeline has to include physical adjustment/growth as well adapting to different rink/style of North American game.
How long do we think? Floor, Ceiling, best guess? Not the same player, but I just remember the Patrik Berglund hype and then a portion of the fanbase having too high expectations, (partially because of how he was advertised & also how he started out with 20 goal 20 assist season) and how he was perceived.
Are we (the fanbase) getting ahead of ourselves with expectations?

I expect him to play a solid number of games for the Blues this season and then truly arrive in 2026-27. I see him as projecting pretty safely as a 2C. A very valuable asset to have. Ceiling would be a 1C but probably a lower tier one (like 20th to 30th best C in the league) but I don’t ever really see him supplanting Thomas as 1C on this team. At least not until Thomas is well into his decline years from now. Floor would probably be a 3rd liner. I could also see him being a really good 1LW or 2LW but I think his future is at C. But he might break into the league as a wing like Thomas did and then transition back to C. We’ll see.

Much better prospect than Berglund was. He’s unlikely to match Bergy’s fashion and goofball game though.

I see Dvorsky at minimum as a very good 2C who averages 60 to 70 points per season, with good defense once he’s established. I wouldn’t be surprised if he even outdoes them expectations and has a few 1C seasons of 80+ points. Might be wishful thinking but that’s my story with future glory.

Agree. Wheeler has always had a bit of a recency bias/shiny new toy slant.

Blues rankings are very disappointing. It's why the Blues are ranked in the middle of the pack consistently. Will these prospects make it to the NHL? Sure, Army will dress the Barbie, but you don't get a date with Stanley Cup when your Barbie is Tier 3 and below.
