Professional baseball will likely take most of that out of him. If he wants to make money he needs to get to MLB.

I like a starter with an attitude. This team could use a little attitude
Re: Posted this thread question two days ago on Doyle
Some of the stuff said could've also described Chris Carpenter

Plus, Doyle has the appearance of a guy who grew up in Jerseyville. The fanbase will laud him as feisty, fiery, blue collar, etc…unless or until he dyes his hair.

Carlos Zambrano notched 44 career WAR. Andre Pallante has 3.8. I'd take a Zambrano.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 18:31 pm Haven't seen him. The print description made me think of Carlos Zambrano.

So long as he keeps "disrespect" to the other dugout (he does) and pitches well (he does), I don't really care.
This team needs a dude that other teams love to hate. I'm tired of having a bunch of "aw shucks you gotta tip your cap" guys all the time. I want a guy, especially a pitcher, who wants to end you, and tap you twice to make sure you're down. Seems like this kid is.

I thought the same thing about him. He seems like a guy that if he wasn't on your team you would hate him, but you love him when he is on your team. Kind of like a Jim Edmonds.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 23:26 pm So long as he keeps "disrespect" to the other dugout (he does) and pitches well (he does), I don't really care.

I hope his attitude turns out to be more Chris Carpenter and less Trevor Bauer

I'm just hoping for the best. LewisT, nice catch. Could be a comp to Chris Carpenter, who got into it with his own manager in Toronto. And, was kind of a dick to his own teammate, Brendan Ryan? Don't need that kind of club house drama, but no question about Carpenter's smarts, pitching ability, or intensity. Hopefully, this kid can match that.

Hoping for the best. Seems likely a Tommy John surgery at some point. Rehabs for a year
Mediocre season and then may be like Lynn has a few more good seasons but not getting $20 million a year for awhile.

Very nice take, Tank. I liked Lance a lot. Lancelot, get it? Really good pitcher. kind of a prickly guy. But pretty good sense of humor, too. Also, an SEC I think. Ole Miss, maybe?
