Still don't have a RH Power hitting OF
2 relievers (probably plus relievers but still) and 2 LH hitters with 50 scouting grades.
We are going to need to fill our current holes elsewhere. Not likely that we find a 100 RBI bat on day 2.

Were you under the impression that they'd find a plug and play MOTO RH bat on day 1?
I can promise you that they didn't draft Doyle to be a reliever.

Any bat through the draft now will take 3 years minimum to get to the MLB. They need a RH power bat next season. It will have to come via trade using all the 2B and DH they have. Their farm just does not develop power hitting for some reason.

His secondary pitches will have to develop then. That will take a year in the minors at leastAn Old Friend wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 23:04 pmWe're you under the impression that they'd find a plug and play MOTO RH bat on day 1?

My prediction is that for 2026 , Doyle will start out in Double A and be promoted quickly from there.

What is wrong with 1 year of development? I am stoked they have a guy that can bring it and has the size to carry it through the game. 2027 is the window if Baez develops as well.Youboughtit wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 23:07 pmHis secondary pitches will have to develop then. Anyone in the 3rd round or later yes. From last years draft though Nick, Jac and Cam are all in the MLB and frankly, tearing it up. Many times it is possible to find a nearly instant power hitter in the first few picks.Youboughtit wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 23:06 pmAny bat through the draft now will take 3 years minimum to get to the MLB. That was last year’s draft. Did you happen to notice how many high schoolers went this year?Carp4Cy wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 00:24 amAnyone in the 3rd round or later yes. Well, (bleep). Here I was all excited about this pick and now I'm hearing that he's going to need a year in the minors??? (bleep)!!!
Well, I'm not a huge draft guy, so maybe someone can tell me who is a great RH power hitting OFer that could step up to the MLB team right away next year that they missed out on?

Nick Kurtz has 17 HRs - he would be leading our team. Cam Smith is hitting .277 with 7 HRs and a 113 OPS+ and just turned 22. He's exactly what we only hoped Walker would have been. Smith also got Tucker for the Cubs - so yeah that's an interesting alternative use for a 1st round draft pick. He's been a great pickup for both Chicago and Houston.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 07:50 amtheyre tearing it up?? really.. since when is .140 tearing it up?Carp4Cy wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 00:24 amAnyone in the 3rd round or later yes. Dont worry. Burly will master switch hitting this offseason.
