I remember Larussa said if the offense was struggling or a hitter was struggling he would use the hit and run because it would force the hitter to focus on exactly what he needs to do instead of being clueless about what he needs to do to get back on track and that would a lot of times snap them out of it that’s not an exact quote but it’s the essence of what he said and right or wrong it always seemed to make sense to me
