Ken Wilson was always the best for the Blues imo (I'm in my 40's) but JK really grew on me over the years.

Nope, read your age. Doesn’t matter how old you are. I never heard Foster Hewitt, but I know he’s considered the best. He even has a NHL award named in his honor. You know, the one Hall of Fsme announcer, Dan Kelly, won before his death.

On the surface, this is a cost cutting move. And I do get the feeling of redundancy, so it makes sense from a business perspective.

I would guess that the decision was made to combine ... and from that call, you have to pick your team. Do you go younger (Kerber and Vitale) or go with JK and Jamie? If they opted with JK and Jamie - they would lose Kerber. He can go to any NHL franchise in a heartbeat - he's that good.

We don't know the entire story. As someone else posted, maybe JK wanted to start looking at a "Mike Shannon" deal where he only works home games. We just don't know.

All that being said, thank you John Kelly. I'm so happy that you were able to call Game Seven on the radio side - I'm sure your Dad was beaming!
