Re: John Kelly out
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that all of the hockey teams that are televised by Fan Duel do the same. I also wouldn't be shocked to find out that the Cardinals games are the same for next year. It might even be in whatever legal mumbo jumbo that they used to come out of bankruptcy. I think they have to show how they are changing their business model, etc. Ring, ring....hello 101.1, how can I help you? How much would you charge us to use your radio broadcast for our telecast? Really? That's all? That's less than JK's travel expenses. That is how syndicated radio shows work too. Cheaper to pay the syndicater for their show than to pay Radio Rich to do a shift on air.

Re: John Kelly out
I've NEVER been a John Kelly fan, so I like Kerbs being the man...I just wish Chaser was healthy, because Vitale isn't going to work. And losing Datt is just retarded...Blues going with a sausagefest for their games?
Re: John Kelly out
Nice reference leedog. Radio Rich Dalton was my fav FM deejay growing up. Great voice, killer stories. Wish I had his vinyl collection.leedog68 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 10:17 am I wouldn't be surprised to find out that all of the hockey teams that are televised by Fan Duel do the same. Re: John Kelly out
Yeah this is where I'm at with it. They just shock fired the voice that connects the team to the fans. I had a lot of things I could have picked for "wanted to be when I grew up" but I wanted to be Dan Kelly. John Kelly wasn't Dan Kelly but he was still really good and he understands the game deeply. Pang is coming as close as he can come to ripping the Blues without doing it. He wants to. He posted strong support of Kelly instead. I would bet the announcing community at large has opinions on this and I hope to see them posted.

Re: John Kelly out
The good news is that another fan base is going to get an upgrade in their booth when John gets a job offer asap. I hope he goes somewhere nice.
Ken Wilson was always the best for the Blues imo (I'm in my 40's) but JK really grew on me over the years.

He’s still on KBDZ (93.1/101.7) based out of St Gen but with the acquisition of 101.7 now in St Chas county area. It’s him, Randy Railey, Katie Kruze, all there.Aesa wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 10:24 amNice reference leedog. Radio Rich Dalton was my fav FM deejay growing up. Great voice, killer stories. I remember when Katie was elevated to program director at KSHE. We were actually friends back then but I lost touch with her a couple of years later. And The Seventh Day, when KSHE would play entire albums uninterrupted.
KSHE also did nightly (or weekly?) popularity contests for bands. Listeners would call in their votes, and KSHE would play one song from the loser and three from the winner. Did that have a name?
And John Ulett did someting band-specific during the noon hour. Maybe he took requests?
And Rocktober!

I always say Joel Hofer, the goalie the women gofer.

They still do the Seventh day which is hosted by Marc Close and Rocktober of course.
K-She has lost a lot of its magic though.
Re: John Kelly out
At the risk of derailing this thread even more, I believe the noon show was called Lunch with KSHE, but I may be mistaken. It was a long time ago. They would play a 30-40 minute anthology of a single band starting at noon on weekdays.blues2112 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 11:17 amRandy Railey's "Believe It Or Don't" was phenomenal!netboy65 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 11:05 amPlus we have a goalie named Hofer and I remember Al Hofer, the guy the girls go fer from back in the day. Remember the old Fireside Theater on late Friday nights?

That’s why I like KBDZ, they seem to be what KSHE used to be.
To answer 2112’s other questions,
I thought the nightly thing was KWK not KSHE, they used to call it “Rock Wars”
Ulett’s daytime thing was The Lunch Show, and yeah back in the day it was appointment listening

You are correct!
KWK was 106.5?
And WWWK was 1380?
