I've never understood why they have radio and tv broadcast. It seems silly to pay for two separate set ups and announcers. We can argue that they picked the wrong one but for me they are about the same. I liked both and this was reinforced when I had to watch a national broadcast.
Absolutely. The ESPN games with female announcers were particularly brutal.
Vitale gets a lot of hate but he reminds me of a Shannon style color man with the stories. And other than Kerber's quirks on post-game or interviews, his play by play is solid. Of course, I judge all Blues announcers against Ken Wilson (Dan Sr was before my time). And Wilson had his detractors with his "Oh baby!!", but it was almost always said with the passion of a fan which made it enjoyable as hell to me.

I find it sickening and classless the way the article made this change sound so exciting and “reimagined” when all they’re doing is dumping Kelly and Datt to save money.

Mid market team having to cut $$$ somewhere in order to spend to the cap on the hockey side.
This was my take, too. The league's revenue share seems to be somewhat of a black box (although, admittedly, I've never spent much time researching how it works), so it's unclear to me whether the revenue share goes up by a corresponding amount to the cap increase. If not, it would favor large-market teams and screw everyone else.
Anyway, surprised to see these costs cuts. And bummed to lose Kelly/Alexa, bummed that Strick and Prongs are a bigger piece. I like Kerbs and I'm fine-ish with Joey. Warmann is a bore, man.
I like John think he is good at his job and respect what the Kelly's mean to people and this franchise but I'd be lying to you if I didn't say I have been feeling his age the last couple seasons in his expressions etc.
It was harder for me to see panger go tbh with you guys.
I don't think simulcast is a good idea I do like the idea of kerbs in the booth but not with vitale... Joey gets on my nerves when he isn't explaining the game...
Season should be an experience...
Always gonna miss the Wilson /Micheletti days.. Joe retired not long ago..
The Mike Shannon passing ending an era for the Cardinals a few years ago and now dismissing Kelly from the Blues.
That name has been synonymous with the franchise and now its gone.
The team of "Kerbs" and Vitale equals puke. They are just awful. You have to have a pretty good amount of knowledge and mostly imagination to know what's going on the ice if you have to listen to these two during a game.
Kelly's knowledge of the game and its players was underrated and he did as good of job as you could in being the son of the GOAT hockey broadcaster.
Some one somewhere should have stepped up and prevented this.
This is the first time I can honestly say I've been disgusted with this franchise since losing Joey Mullen.
Explain please. Who really made the decision? It was announced by all three but isn’t FanDual top dog? Did the Blues get out muscled by FanDual since it is their network? Wasn’t Kelly paid by FanDual and they wanted to save money? I feel that the Blues really had no say and had to go along with the program. Really sad to see John go, it sucks.

Brutal disgusting move.

Just (bleep)' awful.
Agree. Those two are terrible and just like to hear themselves talk. On the radio, it’s impossible to follow the game, as they banter during play, and then occasionally throw in some play-by-play. They “might” be bearable on tv broadcasts, because we can see the game. I’ll be muting them a lot. Called Kerber out on Twitter once, for the banter during play and told him to basically be a hockey announcer. His response was “Nope. Cheers!” Have no respect for that loser.

They need a billionaire to buy a big piece of the team.
Stillman is not a rich guy. He has rich friends, but they dont pay the bills, he does. Gotta get STLFCCity Owner more involved in the money front. She has billions with a B, not tens of Millions like Tom
You genius business titans realize the Blues and Fanduel are two different businesses right?

Very valid point I highly doubt this is a blues hockey operations decision as much as it is a fanduel one.
Alot seem to be taking this out on the franchise..

This is a good question. I want to know too. I want to know WHO to be mad at, lol! The goons at FanDual? The Blues/Chris. Zimmerman? All of the above? I doubt ESPN 101 had the ability to have much say. They were probably just told “Kerbs is going to be doing both radio and tv now.” and all they could say is ok.

right? I mean you would think its obvious given that Bally's went under, Fanduel took over and all the noise around it the last couple years. How anyone thinks the Blues are involved is beyond me, did the Blues go bankrupt too lol
I was a young lad and after the game his inebriated dad accidentally bumped into me and I said I was almost knocked flying by Dan Kelly.
Truly a sad day for my fellow hockey pucks.
