Herrera taking balls as OF in Memphis
In practice from Willy M.
Do you think maybe try him in LF ?
Replace Noot thus keeping DH spot open for Gorman
And possible Pozo/Pages combo C/DH sometimes too.

Re: Herrera taking balls as OF in Memphis
Our DH has to OPS .800+ Gorman bats seventh or eighth in my lineup and plays third base (after Nado is traded).

Good god that would be terrible if Gorman is the everyday third baseman he’s not great defensively and his offense sucksBrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 19:59 pmOur DH has to OPS .800+ Gorman bats seventh or eighth in my lineup and plays third base (after Nado is traded).

Let's slow the roll and see if he can do it. Kid gets hurt running bases and has never played the OF.

This is why we need new hitters from outside the orgOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 20:03 pmGood god that would be terrible if Gorman is the everyday third baseman he’s not great defensively and his offense sucksBrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 19:59 pmOur DH has to OPS .800+ Gorman bats seventh or eighth in my lineup and plays third base (after Nado is traded).

Good to see the Cardinals doing that which I was first and best to understand, 3 years ago when I correctly advised precisely this move.
My perfect branding of Super Slo Mo confirmed yet again.
Best of luck to Herrera - this will unquestionably enhance his career

I agree, Scouty. Leave him at DH. His legs seem to be an issue this year.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 20:14 pmLet's slow the roll and see if he can do it. Kid gets hurt running bases and has never played the OF.![]()
Re: Herrera taking balls as OF in Memphis
Herrera did get hirt running the bases. Yes thats true. Whats also true is herrera used to catch 80-100 games every year as well as plenty more practice reps catching and playing the outfield is infinitely more easier on his knees than that. The fact that he got an injury this year running bases when he was dhing doesnt mean that suddenly now he will constantly get hurt if he does anything more than dh. This is a giy who was catching constantly without injuring himself every game.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 20:58 pmThe guy gets hurt DHing. Running to and from LF every inning might be pushing it.
Im more concerned if he will actually be any good at outfield.
Re: Herrera taking balls as OF in Memphis
Playing a few games in the outfield is way easier on his legs than playing a few games at catcher. Lets not get overdramatic. And he probably still will dh a lot. Just occasionally work in outfield work. Increase cardinals flexibility. And giving saggese and herrera outfield reps is signaling that walker and noot actually need to do something or we will try other options.(although saggese has lost steam at the moment)JuanAgosto wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 21:36 pmI agree, Scouty. DH mostly but can get some time in LF
Most dangerous bat on team, he has been missed
