Right Handed Outfielder

Post by ggnoobs »

If the Cardinals were serious about improving their outfield, they should try to go get Byron Buxton from the twins. His contract is cheap and only through his age 34 season (3 years).

Is he an injury concern? Yes. He has been healthy this year though and has put up excellent numbers as always. He's probably going to have a 30/30 season and possibly could approach a 40/40 season.

He is beloved in Minnesota I am sure, but they are 13.5 games out this year so I don't think they have any hope of a playoff spot.

Would they take the chance to get Jordan Walker and turn him into the star of the future? They were patient with Buxton and his struggles early on.

Buxton has a 30.2 trade value. Walker has a 25.4 value. Throw in someone like a Sem Robberse and you get pretty similar trade values.

Just a thought.

The Cardinals still need a 3rd basemen that can hit as well.

Or Colby Thomas from the A's. JJ takes 3b

That may be a good move for the future, but if they want to salvage this season they need proven major league talent who would add thump right away like Matt Holliday in 2009. But it's a long shot. They need at least 2 pitchers and 2 bats.

The reworking of this MLB roster is going to take years, not weeks.
