I like some of what Meyer has to say here but anyone pencilling Dean in for NHL time is probably going to be disappointed.

I am right there with Dean. I would love for him to work out as a lot of people see him. If I look at this history and injuries he doesn't seem to be on track to be more than a part timer in the NHL. That said, It is always good to be wrong in this way with player development. So I hope to be wrong here.Backesdraft wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 09:03 am I like some of what Meyer has to say here but anyone pencilling Dean in for NHL time is probably going to be disappointed.

Dean has excellent all around skills, a high level of hockey sense, and a giant heart, He will play in the NHL.dr0zombie wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 10:53 amI am right there with Dean. He already had two giant shocks- getting traded almost as soon as he was drafted (by Vegas with their first round pick), and the move fom Juniors to playing against grown men.
He seems quite resilient, his brief but dynamic return from his injuries at the end of the T Bird Seaon, and in their plaoyoffs are concrete proof of that.

As Army always says, "cant make the club from the tub". Dean has to put together either a great camp or at least basically a full productive AHL season but i too have higher hopes given the tool boxHarry York 37 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 11:01 amDean has excellent all around skills, a high level of hockey sense, and a giant heart, He will play in the NHL.dr0zombie wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 10:53 amI am right there with Dean. Well, he did play 9 games in the NHL in 23/24. Last year was unfortunately a set back with his injury. Hopefully the kid can put together a solid, and healthy, year. He has the talent and the drive. Just needs to put it together.dr0zombie wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 10:53 amI am right there with Dean. I would love for him to work out as a lot of people see him.
