Panic in Wrigleyville
Cubs fans are quite nervous as their once vaunted offense is struggling big time.
In the first 63 games , the Cubbies were 39-24 with a .297 RISP. ranked 2nd
In last 29 games, they are 15 wins -14 losses with a .213 RISP ranked 28th
The Brewers are breathing down their necks for 1st place in NL Central.
Merch orders for those ‘W’ flags are declining.
Get caught by Brewers and fans will go nuts pointing fingers.
Can’t wait !

Well, what does that say about STL when that lagging Cubbie offense absolutely toasted Cardinals pitching in 3 games to the tune of 28 runs?ramfandan wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 22:14 pm Cubs fans are quite nervous as their once vaunted offense is struggling big time.

It says that Mikolas and Fedde are terrible! That’s been true quite often lately. Nothing new about that.icon wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 22:22 pmWell, what does that say about STL when that lagging Cubbie offense absolutely toasted Cardinals pitching in 3 games to the tune of 28 runs?ramfandan wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 22:14 pm Cubs fans are quite nervous as their once vaunted offense is struggling big time.

Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
Who cares if the Cards can't win. I'm not one of those "As long as it's not the Cubs!" guys. If they're good enough to win then good on them, lord knows as a franchise they've certainly suffered. I have no love for the Brewers but as good as they are, their history is littered with futility. One year someone other than the Cards will win something.ramfandan wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 22:14 pm Cubs fans are quite nervous as their once vaunted offense is struggling big time.

Fedde only allowed 3 of 11 runs. King and Svanson teamed up to allow the other 8.ramfandan wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 22:53 pmIt says that Mikolas and Fedde are terrible! Panic on the streets of Chi-town
Panic on the streets of Wrigleyville
I wonder to myself
Could life ever be sane again?
The Sheffield street that you slip down
I wonder to myself
Hopes may rise out on Waveland
But, Honey Pie, you're not safe there
So you run down to the safety of the town
But there's panic on the streets of Lakeside
Rosemont, Skokie, Evanston
I wonder to myself
Burn down old wrigley
Trash the friendly confines
hang the cubbies
hang the cubbies
hang the cubbies
(with sincere apologies to Marr and Morrissey)

Also, Johnny Marr is STILL a genius.
Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
Sort of sad our pleasure comes entirely from Cubs misery. Remember when a good Cardinals team was our joy.
My guess is Cubs get it back on track. They will make some deals at trade deadline and spend some money.

Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
so.....
the measure of success for a cards season is the cubs losing...
seems about right....

Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
It is not the true "measure of success", candy, but it is always gratifying for a Cardinal fan to see their long time rival fail even when they have the more talented team. I always root for two teams - the St. Louis Cardinals and whoever is playing the small bears.
Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
It’s less gratifying when it’s the Brewers taking over the Cubs though. Brewers have stolen our devil magic.12xu wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 09:08 amIt is not the true "measure of success", candy, but it is always gratifying for a Cardinal fan to see their long time rival fail even when they have the more talented team. "hang the Cubbies" I like the sound of that.

Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
If the Cardinals cannot even make the playoffs this season, it would be extremely satisfying for this baseball fan to see the Brewers eliminate the small bears in the playoffs - with their low payroll and savvy manager - who took over after Counsell abandoned them for more money with the cubs. It would even be more exciting to see the Brewers win their first ever World Championship by beating the huge favorites like the teams from LA and NYC.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 09:12 amIt’s less gratifying when it’s the Brewers taking over the Cubs though. Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
It wouldn’t be that satisfying for me because the Brewers have won the division 3 of the last 4 years and have been to the playoffs for 6 of the last 7 years. They have been more relevant to the division than the Cubs, whose only playoff appearance during that time was 2020 and haven’t won a playoff game since 2017.12xu wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 09:20 amIf the Cardinals cannot even make the playoffs this season, it would be extremely satisfying for this baseball fan to see the Brewers eliminate the small bears in the playoffs - with their low payroll and savvy manager - who took over after Counsell abandoned them for more money with the cubs. But it would be nice to see the Cubs miss the playoffs and then lose Tucker.
Re: Panic in Wrigleyville
IF the cubs advance to the NLCS or better and then sign Tucker long term then they could be strong contenders for many years. They have the money and their org. has been making intelligent moves. It will be very interesting what improvements they make during the rest of this month.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 09:38 amIt wouldn’t be that satisfying for me because the Brewers have won the division 3 of the last 4 years and have been to the playoffs for 6 of the last 7 years.
