Doug has gone fishing.

Post by ChooseBlues »

Maybe he can get Petro to make him some fishing poles out of those sticks he never picked up. It would be a nice hobby now that he is retired.

Maybe. But we are short an experienced d man.He is working something or has a plan for the start of camp. Someone is getting added before camp. Maybe that's why no Suter retirement announcement as has been pointed out here. Our bottom 3 are just a little too inexperienced to roll with the entire season. Need an experienced hand especially if injuries hit.

Ryan Suter did not like being benched in the playoffs. I don't know if that factors in or not. Admittedly, I do not want R. Suter. To me he looked done by the end of last season.

The guys we’re probably looking for at this point are still hunting for a full time berth. It’s usually a couple weeks after the frenzy before they start settling for part time gigs. Way too early to be worried about it just yet.

Idk ive thought about the D both ways, right now

Fowler Parayko
Broberg Faulk
Tucker Mailloux
Kessel

I wouldnt be shocked if they ran this to see if it works in Oct-Nov. With a Top 4 that good they will try to shelter the bottom pairs minutes. But i think they at least need a cheap experienced vet even if he goes to the AHL. They really like Tucker i know that and Army said Mailloux will play too he is already capable of 3rd pair minutes.
Again though Blues fans need to give LM a runway hes going to make dumb mistakes that may end up behind Binnie. He will leave his position to make monster hits to try to impress everyone but the Blues have a tremendous staff with Weber and co. that is probably going to be working with him soon when he gets to STL at Centene. Whats better than Al MacInnis coming in or putting a call into Chris Pronger? Not many organizations have those resources

I think they're set - Tucker and Mailloux will get some sheltered even strength minutes, and Tucker will be on a PK group, and it wouldn't surprise me if Mailloux gets a little PP time, as that's one of his strengths.

And you might see Fowler pick up a shift with Mailloux, and Tucker with Parayko here and there, just to build their confidence.

I'll be interested to see what Prongs thinks of Mailloux 's tool box once he sees him. He generally doesn't hold back on his opinion.

Tucker may be up to the task of holding down that third line but I do think Monty will be moving his pairings around, certainly in preseason to know what he has but that's a bit late if he needs another veteran.
