Why the Blues want to trade Kyrou

Not sure that I believe this, but it is possible.

If it's posted on a random Canadians fan's hockey blog, by golly it must be true!!

Re: Why the Blues want to trade Kyrou
I get so sick of hearing this ap-cray endlessly. He's a scoring winger, he scores in the play-offs 2, he's young, fast, on a well-aging contract, fits this roster quite well.
Plus, he's a good guy. He gets better every year.

The article states that the reason they want to move him is because we have Snuggerudd, Neighbours, and Carbonneau who can replace him going forward.
Snuggerudd already replaced him on the top line where he failed to stick and build chemistry with Thomas over several seasons. Neighbours was also tried there and has good chemistry with Thomas, as he battles for and retrieves pucks while going to hard areas. Carbonneau is 18 and really isn't part of this discussion yet. Or is he?

So in essence, this fan blog is possibly true, and it certainly was for the original discussions between the Habs and Blues which resulted in Bolduc being traded. I would still contend that if the return is right, Kyrou could still be on the table.
The ask should be Juraj.

Let’s see the kids do it for more than a literal handful of games before we count on them to replace 35 goals 70 pointszamadoo wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 08:46 am"Not sure if I believe this, but it is possible."

Re: Why the Blues want to trade Kyrou
I know smelly said that. My point is it's silly to post a new thread here every time a random fan blog comes up with a new rumor.
And everything about this is obvious. If the Blues move Kyrou, it can only be because they feel they can replace him from within and want to save the money. That's like Occam's Razor stuff.
What would have been interesting is if this blog broke that he wants out. Or Monty hates him. Or he's a problem in the room. That sort of thing. But none of those are true so we are back to concluding it must be for the reasons above.
Re: Why the Blues want to trade Kyrou
It took a handful of games for Monty to give Snuggerudd the 1st line role and roughly the same ATOI in the playoffs. The goal isn't to move Kyrou for nothing, but to get top value and replace him with a better fit going forward.netboy65 wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 08:49 amLet’s see the kids do it for more than a literal handful of games before we count on them to replace 35 goals 70 pointszamadoo wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 08:46 am"Not sure if I believe this, but it is possible."

There are few players from MTL I would accept for Kyrou: Slafkovsky, Caufield, Suzuki, and Hutson.
They can't do Suzuki. I'd say Hutson is also out. Why would they do Caufield who produces the same?
Therefore, my ask is Slafkovsky as the main piece. Idk how they feel about Laine, but maybe we take him back to even out the $. A deal structured around Juraj+Laine and Kyrou+Texier makes everyone happy. (But mostly me!)

I see, so your opinion that this article lacks enough interest or value resulted in your mocking post and negative attitude.sdaltons wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 08:58 amI know smelly said that. My point is it's silly to post a new thread here every time a random fan blog comes up with a new rumor.

It's like how many of us react when we watch Kyrou approach board battles. I can understand the agitation.

Re: Why the Blues want to trade Kyrou
Montreal fans are similar to Toronto fans……highly unrealistic and one-sided in their trade proposals and there are way too many random blogs. Thankfully, Montreal fans are nowhere near as annoying as Leaf fans! But with the Canadiens getting good, the amount of unrealistic craziness seems to be multiplying. Could we end up trading Kyrou to Montreal? I can’t imagine we trade him after already trading Bolduc, but anything is possible. Let’s just get fair value (or more) back from them.

Funny, I think their version of Cole, Dags, and a 3rd is Dach, Matheson, and a 1st.

No my mocking post and negative attitude stems from the inane stuff OP posts. They deserve it.zamadoo wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 09:07 amI see, so your opinion that this article lacks enough interest or value resulted in your mocking post and negative attitude.sdaltons wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 08:58 amI know smelly said that. As to Kyrou...I get frustrated at times, but then other times see greatness. I'm in no hurry to move him because I think he's still growing. But I would if the return were right. That being said, what I consider "right" is unlikely to be met by another team, so more than likely, he stays.

Re: Why the Blues want to trade Kyrou
The article explains why the Blues want to trade him but nothing on why Kyrou would agree to waive his NTC

With Holloway out our choices weren’t exactly plentiful. Who else were you going to put in, Texier? Monty hoped to catch lightning in a bottle, and playing the President’s Trophy team what have you got to lose?zamadoo wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 09:02 amIt took a handful of games for Monty to give Snuggerudd the 1st line role and roughly the same ATOI in the playoffs. There’s a difference between doing for a short playoff series and doing over the 82 game grind.
Re: Why the Blues want to trade Kyrou
I agree. Kyrou had multiple 82 game grinds to stick on the top line, but he didn't. Really, the top line should be Holloway-Thomas, but we spread out the talent and put the speedsters together, to Kyrou's benefit, as Holloway's forecheck was unreal and made that line work.netboy65 wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 09:42 amWith Holloway out our choices weren’t exactly plentiful.
