Iowa is where Bo Basset(wrestler) was offered 5 million ,
I've been following wrestling since Ben was at Mizzou - this whole Bo Basset saga is a joke now. God told him to go to Iowa until they said that they wouldn't break NCAA rules for him to fly in for practice (he's not even a freshman in college yet) and at that point God told him that he was better off going somewhere else. I'm with the Brands on this one....this NIL money is ruining college sports quickly.
I'm an Askren fan as well, I sure hope his current situation turns out.
Yeah god spoke to him and told him to follow the money/perks lol. I love that Brands put him in his place.
I like the NIL money but it will have some growing pains.

Do you follow any of the female wrestlers?
Kennedy Blades is one of the few. Not a slight on women sports - I watch the wnba more than anything these days

That's really cool to hear - I love the wrestling community and favor Iowa over all of them even though they're outgunned - Spencer Lee is a legend and will probably be the next coach on time.

My daughter is currently eying Iowa as her primary choice but ole Dad sure likes Mckendree 30 miles down the road. Both excellent programs.
First picture is from the post Dispatch after showing up at The Wonder women as an unseeded 15 year old freshman and defeating the 2 time MO state champ in the finals to win the tournament, It was pretty cool as the Post Dispatch did a full page article on her coming in as a freshman , 2nd picture is with Blades. She is currently training at U of I all week with team IL and heading to Fargo on Thursday to wrestle the United States Marine Corp national championship.

Skilles, congrats to your daughter and you. I remember how proud I was when my girls were recruited. Best of luck to her and your family and hope you guys arrive at the right decision for all involved.

Most impressive. You must be one proud dad.
Thanks, A little stressed as she will be competing against the very best in the nation this weekend. Last year she went into Fargo nationals completely unranked and unheard of outside the local area at 14 years old with nothing to lose and in the 4th round she turned the whole thing on its head beating the #1 ranked 16U girl in the U.S. but doing so really took a toll on here body and she lost the next 2 then pulled one out of her (donkey) to score a 4 point throw down by 4 with 13 seconds left in the blood round for the win to get her on the podium and became an all American. This year she has been ranked a top 10 high schooler in the nation all year so now the pressure is on.

One of the most unsung of all of sports.
Congrats to your daughter skilles.
Thanks, Its an insane sport.
Watching the national team train/prepare is one of the most inspiring things I have ever seen, just amazing kids/young adults. Literally carrying and dragging each other to finish lines. It is a beautifully brutal thing to watch...they are like a different species.
Ive been around a lot of sports, trained and coached lots of young athletes but I ain't never seen anything quite like that.
