Not watching it but saw him pulled at 70 pitches and was wondering why. Then goes to Matz who’s got a 6.20 ERA over his last 14 appearances

It probably would have been too much for Gibson, too.

70 pitches? That guy is soft for a supposed ace.

Tough competitive player.

Yeah, but if he were alive he'd be pushing 90.

HA! It’s like the old story when someone asked Stan after he retired how he thought he would hit in a modern game. He said around.250. They asked if he thought the pitching is that much better. He said no, but I’m 53 now.

(I’m paraphrasing)

As I pointed out in the GDT, Gray was sweating heavily from the first ending on.
He had warmed up twice.
And then he threw 70 pitches in that soup.
And you’re giving him cra# about this? You have no idea what that is like…

This is fatigue protection. He is pitching again later this week.

To sweat? Please share your great mlb pitching experiences with us. Obviously, you are a former mlb pitcher since you have so much insight.

And why the hell did he warm up knowing there was going to be a delay? That's stupidity on the staff's part.

Come on you guys can't be this stupid. There was obviously a long rain delay. This is very common because of the warm up then starting so late that pitchers don't go long. 🙄

I agree. That seemed to be an obvious possibility. Should pitch Sunday. And Friday and Saturday could be a lot of bullpen use. Friday maybe even a bullpen game.
