3-4 vs the cubs

Post by vegascardsfan5890 »

Given 3 of the losses were absolute blowouts.

But it's not like we're walking away being 0-7 against them. Mikolas and Fedde have started in 3 of those losses.

We have shows that when we can get a lead we can hold it.

We can hit their right handers but get shut down against lefties.

But again, going 3-4 against the first place team isn't the end of the world

It’s not the end of the world but there’s no real bright side to it. I guess you can look at it like the cubs are in first place and a good club and the cards are in third and a mediocre team So just losing 4 of 7 isn’t that bad but I don’t see it that way the cards playing head to head had a chance to gain ground and coughed up ground

To me, it's all about how absolutely uncompetitive we've been in those four losses. It's not like we've lost a 2-1 pitcher's duel, or a 8-7 slugfest where the difference in the score might come down to a bloop single.

It's that we've been absolutely dogwalked in EVERY loss.

We played the Cubs seven times and Gray didn’t pitch in any of them? What kind of manager lets that happen? Seriously poor planning.

+1 oli was beyond dumb to keep his best pitcher out of both series and start his worst pitchers in them

And this is not the first year , I complained previous years when he didn’t matchup vs. Brewers.. the team they neeedrf to best to win Central . Other managers are setting up top starters a month prior to the key division series.

Been a pet peeve of mine with Oli.. he just thinks every game in 162 is equal value. Not the case.

First they count they same.

More importantly that’s on Oli. Once he throws in the towel, he really manages to lose and put the equivalent of a position player pitcher out there for the last six innings.

But we certainly don’t have to win the division anymore to make the playoffs or even to advance to the LCS. I don’t know if it was this one.

With a little luck we get a WC on the opposite side of the cubs bracket and someone else beats them for us. Stuff like that happens all the time.

lol that’s the spirit the cardinals aren’t very good so let’s hope they sneak in and someone beats the good teams for them

Not true. When you are playing the team you are chasing, each game is a two-game swing: if you are 2 games out and win, you’re 1 game out. But if you lose, you’re 3 games out.

I agree with that on who u lose to , but I meant that losing by 10 counts the same as losing by one.

Meanwhile, the Cubs just lost eight to one to Minnesota, the same team we swept. They weren’t even competitive.

That doesn't matter for me. Not unless its a girls round robin softball tournament where run differential is a factor. I remember when they lost gamec1 of the 82 series 11-0.

What it does prove is that the Cards have obvious holes in their SP (like we all have known), which needs to be addressed

One or two blow outs every once in a while mean nothing. When you have fedde and mikolas getting blown twice out of every five games it means your rotation is in trouble

One that should be canned. That is fireable, IMO.
