Our Minor League Player of the Month is 3B Deniel Ortiz!

Ortiz, 20, slashed .333/.449/.556 with 11 RBI, 18 R, 10 XBH & 8 SB in 21 games. His 1.005 OPS ranked third among all qualified Cardinals minor leaguers.

His month was highlighted by a 3-for-3, 3 RBI performance with a career-high three extra-base hits at Daytona on June 27.

Pitcher of the Month

Our Minor League Pitcher of the Month is RHP Hancel Rincon!

Rincon, 23, went 2-1 with a 3.42 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and and organizational-high 37 strikeouts across 5 appearances (4 starts).

His month was highlighted by his first promotion to Double-A on June 9, followed by a win in his AA debut vs. Tulsa on June 10 (5.0 IP, 1 ER, 8 SO), and a 6.0 inning, 1-hit outing on June 22 vs. Corpus Christi in which he established a new career-high with 11 SO.

and the BIG NEWS yesterday

SS/2B JJ Wetherholt has been promoted to Triple-A Memphis.

Wetherholt slashed .300/.425/.466 with 22 XBH, 34 RBI & 14 SB in 62 games with Springfield this year, leading the Texas League in OBP and OPS.

He is the first #STLCards minor leaguer to reach Triple-A or higher within a calendar year of being drafted since RHP Michael Wacha in 2013 and the first position player since 3B Brett Wallace in 2009.

one note on JohnFrank Salazar....he's played every position this year...I believe. He was a the Catcher in the FCL game yesterday. He pitched several innings for Peoria earlier in the season. I'm not exactly sure on his middle infield play, so it just be 7-8 positions.
