Could Mathews or Roby factor into the starting rotation fairly soon?
Both are, obviously, very talented prospects. With the Fedde/Mikolas situation. Obviously, McGreevy is "waiting in the wings". And Matz could be given another shot at starting.

Hey...I remember this one thread from June. Now that you mention it, I remember this same thread from May, and April, and last week of Spring Training, next to last week of Spring Training, 3rd week of Spring Training, etc.
I see you're bored and MSN doesn't have lifted Cardinal stories for you to Copy.
The innovation is "Fill In the Blank"...."obviously"

Both have 4.90 ERAs at Memphis I doubt they will be riding to the rescue any time soon it would just be different names to get lit up in the rotation and for people to say are overhyped prospects

Ok....I KNOW I’ve responded to this same topic recently a FEW times.
But....here goes!
Yes....after McGreevy who probably is in the rotation after the deadline Roby & Mathews figure to be next up. Possibly Hence also.
Best guess? They are vying for spots next ST.
And yes Matz could also figure in but depending on his asking price more likely leaves for free agency after the season.
Hopefully we don’t have to answer this identical OP again in a week????

I think they are more in the 2026 plans. This is too soon based on the current club. Are they better than Fedde and Mikolas? Probably. But they haven't proven that they can handle a workload yet. And why rush them right now? This isn't a division winning team. Specifically Roby hasn't proven he can stay healthy
Re: Could Mathews or Roby factor into the starting rotation fairly soon?
Why the constant put down attempts? Why be so defensive? Everybody knows your the greatest on CT. You advised your click to ignore me but you can't. What's the deal? Are you a fraud? If I see your pensive attempts yo dismiss me, I'm going to just scroll om by. Play your silly games with your click all you want. No biggie to me.craviduce wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 16:46 pm Hey...I remember this one thread from June. That's a decent theory. But I feel, with the dubious Cardinals stating pitching situation. It wouldn't be a bad idea to give Mathews and Roby a little "taste" of the type of MLB hitters they'll be facing. For future reference.Adam2 wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 17:28 pmI think they are more in the 2026 plans. This is too soon based on the current club. Are they better than Fedde and Mikolas? Probably. What's going to happen in St. Louis the next 2-1/2 months isn't going to be pretty. Why subject them to that?

They’re not pitching well and getting lit up at Memphis why call them up just to get the experience of getting lit up worse in the majorsShady wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 17:45 pmIt's simple. I'd like to see them experience a sub-4 ERA before moving up.Shady wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 17:45 pmIt's simple. For experience.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 17:42 pm What's going to happen in St. Louis the next 2-1/2 months isn't going to be pretty. Why subject them to that?

I admit to being curious myself as to why you ask mostly the same [shirt] over and over again. You must really love you some Roby, Burly and Sagesse!Shady wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 17:42 pm'Hopefully we don’t have to answer this identical OP again in a week????"
