Netboy65, here are some examples of players putting up 30+ goals while earning $8M or less.

Dude, 36 goals are replaceable — let's be real. Kyrou is not elite.

Player Games Goals Cap Hit (AAV)
Morgan Geekie 77 33 $5.5M
John Tavares 75 38 $4.38M
Brandon Hagel 82 35 $6.5M
Frank Vatrano 82 37 $3.6M
Tom Wilson 81 33 $6.5M

You don’t have to spend $8M+ to get 30-35 goals. Kyrou’s production isn't rare — and definitely not in the "elite" category.

Geekie has done it once and 17 was his previous best. Hagel has 23 fewer goals than Kyrou over the past 3 years. Vatrano has been over 30 once and dropped back down to 21 this past season. Wilson has done it once in 12 seasons and his next best is 24.
I wonder what salaries the guys are making or will make who have scored 104 goals over the past 3 seasons.

You might want to pay closer attention to the thread, I’m not the one that said that, however I agree with the premise. You can find outliers sure, but not on a consistent basis like we have in JK.

I was for trading Kyrou for Dobson and I would have been happy with the rumored Kyrou trade to montreal for Mailloux, Hage, and a 1st, but Kyrou's contract is not the reason why neither of those trades were finalized. His contract is good value based on production. He's a scorer.

I just don’t see a scenario where we trade both Bolduc and Kyrou to the Habs. And it’d make absolutely no sense to trade Kyrou for futures. I just don’t see it. And this “new” rumor is based on something Seravelli said 5ish days ago. It’s not really even worth discussing IMO.

Yeah, I think the rumor just keeps getting regurgitated over and over and now it is other teams’ fans/bloggers seeing it, thinking Kyrou is on the market and then they opine on their own packages. Most notably lacking in context of what the Blues would actually be looking for and ignoring the fact for many, that the Blues finished ahead of their respective teams and are no longer rebuilding, so they aren’t in need of their future picks or washed out prospects/trash. :D

Because now I'm curious, these are the 100+ goal scorers over the last 3 seasons...

Pastrnak - 11.25M
Draisaitl - 14M
Matthews - 13.25M
Point - 9.5M
Rantanen - 12M
Reinhart - 8.6M
Mackinnon - 12.6M
Nylander - 11.5M
McDavid - 12.5M
Thompson - 7.14M
Ovechkin - 9.5M
Hyman - 5.5M (year 5 of 7)
Panarin - 9.5M
Kucherov - 9.5M
Kaprizov - 9M
Robertson - 7.75M (year 4 of 4)
Crosby - 8.7M
Guentzal - 9M
Scheifele - 8.5M
Connor - 7.14M (year 7 of 7)
Kempe - 5.5M (year 4 of 4)

Kyrou - 8.125M
Tavares - 11M
Stamkos - 8M (at 8.5M to start this period)
Aho - 9.75M
B. Tkachuk - 8.25M
Keller - 7.15M (year 6 of 8 )

Thompson, Hyman, Robertson, Connor, Kempe, and Keller are the only guys making less than Kyrou. Only Hyman and Kempe are making significantly less. 5 of the 6 started their contracts before Kyrou, and will be getting new, larger contracts in a year or two.

He's done and not wanted here. Not the type of player that fits the Blues' mold. Would have to be Byram plus hell get Bolduc back for Kyrou.

I would take Cole Caufield for Kyrou straight up. He is younger and has been a great playoff performer- setting records as a rookie in his first experience in the NHL Postseason.
He lost his center iceman and his road roomate. Maybe he will move on.

These trade rumors are based off of old news. The only way I see the Blues moving Kyrou after he "reportedly said he would waive his NTC to the Habs" which of course is only reported by the habs insiders, is if the Blues and Habs find a 3rd trade partner. Their exact needs are our needs. It's the goofiest of trade proposals at the moment.
