Sad about Bolduc is basing Bolducs entire NHL value only under Jim Montgomery 19 goals scored in 56 games played. Aside from this stretch Bolduc isnt landing anyone a big prospect RHD
By this same logic then, Schenn is certainly a 2C, 44 pts in 60 GP +11, Buchy 44 pts in 54 GP top line franchise winger, Thomas 72 pts in 60 GP one of the best centers in the NHL. Zach Bolduc 8th in points under Monty with Holloway Kyou Buch and Neighbours ahead of him so Army would not be able to extend Bolduc to a big long term extension for 3rd line minutes. So yea no problem, wise logic. Get ready to suck crow when Mailloux is dazzling fans and Bolduc is a decent top 6 in Montreal

What do Adam Jiricek and Logan Mailloux have in common?
Answer: They are both potential elite RHD with ISSUES. With Jiricek, it is his knees and head. With Mailloux, it's his personal life.

Why am I telling you this? Why should I care so much?

Elite RHD can only be gotten at the TOP of the draft, and this means that they are typically out of the Blues reach at 15-20.

So how does Army compensate for this and secure and elite RHD for the roster? He overlooks the ISSUES, hoping that they will just go away. In the case of Jiricek, his health issues are very likely not going away, and that is what brings us to Mailloux. Maillloux is essentially Jiricek 2. Mailloux was desperately needed because the Jiricek pick in 2024 was a fail.

And what are the other ramifications? Getting an elite RHD will cost you an elite player. Say goodbye to Bolduc, Blues fans. Bolduc is a winger and new ones at that position can be grabbed at #15 in the draft.

Yessirr. Bolduc is gone because Army placed a bet on Jiricek's knees and lost.

Are you mad yet? Just wait till you see what Army gives up for a legitimate 2C next year. Stancl? Dvorsky? Snuggerud? All 3?
I wish I cared about anything as much as this guy cares about Army.

How good Mailloux or Bolduc will be is completely irrelevant to me.

What irks me is this...
The Blues draft 15-20. At that draft spot, it's RARE to find an impact player. In BOLDUC, we had one--FINALLY. And what happens, we trade our "DRAFT HIT" for another team's "DRAFT MISS". Mailloux was not on the Montreal roster. Mailloux was their 3rd or 4th best RHD. At first glance, Mailloux is very much a draft "miss" for Montreal, and a guy will personal baggage on top of it all.

This was an exceptionally bad trade. The chances that we win this trade are 25%.

Some of us want our GM's making safe trades. Some of us want our GM making smart trades. Some of us want a GM that doesn't GIVE AWAY our players and PICK UP NEW RISK!!!

Others, are Army Moms, and they can only envision wild success with Mailloux. They don't care to think about anything else.

Are there any more Del Tacos in STL? We always went to the one at Natural Bridge and Brown/McDonnell Blvd. The thing I loved was the name of their hot sauce, Del Scorcho.

Its a shame Bolduc cant take Monty with him:

With Jim Montgomery 56 Gp 19g 12a +18
Without Monty 41 Gp 5 g 4a EV

Maybe.... I'm sure Monty is a good coach. However, it felt to me like December 15 and Cam Fowler was the secret sauce.

If Adam Jiricek plays for the Blues--what will you say then? Could you be wrong?

If the Bolduc trade turns out in our favor--What will you say?

Are you real or fake? DO you move the goal posts or will you admit when you are wrong?
Are you smart enough to admit you are wrong or are you simply a troll.

I'd love a Blues Talk Ice Hockey game. I think I would possibly put up a few hits against a player of your type.
You seem like a Kadri type. Or maybe its a reverse Oshie hit. Maybe a Scott Stevens or Kasparitus or Kostantinov type hit.
Maybe you dont skate or play--who knows.

I don't remember who was GM when this guy was added for nothing.

I love Cam Fowler. That said, I'd rather have a TOP5 pick than Cam Fowler.

The Kraken had the 2nd overall pick in 2021. They had the 4th overall in 2022. In 2025 they came in 7th in the pacific division with 76 points.
The Devils had the 4th pick in 2021. They had the 2nd pick in 2022. In 2025 they finished with 91 points and won one playoff game. In 2024 they came in 7th in the Metro division.
The Blues had the 17th pick in 2021. They had the 23rd pick in 2022. In 2025 they finished with 96 points.
Most teams don't win playoff games for years after "earning" a top 5 draft position.

Too bad Smellie doesn't understand this. He's the forum's Scarecrow, he has no brain.

Having Top 5 picks doesn't guarantee anything in and of itself we can review that all day long. The organization has to be able to build a team and coach them up. Edmonton has obviously a lot of success lately every team would trade their playoff runs except Florida but the Oilers havent won it yet. Will they ever win it all. Do you want to trade places with Anaheim, San Jose or Chicago right now Blues roster vs any of those? I wouldnt at all again there is no guarantee that those teams will be contenders any time soon if ever.
