Minor League Updates (7/7) ~ Cards' Injuries and Transactions

Post by craviduce »

Yairo Padilla misses his first game after being removed running the bases in the Saturday's 1st inning. Not in the lineup today.

------------------

Andrew Dutkanych IV, 2024 7th round pick, Vanderbilt. Known more for his HS pitching, than anything in college. Leg injury hampered him his Freshman year, and then TJ surgery (Late March 2024) derailed a good start to his 2024 season.

2 months left in the low minor league season, 2 weeks for FCL. I don't expect much as he returns 15 months out of TJ surgery. 2026 is the time to follow him closely.

Kenly Hunter hasn't played for DSL Cards since June 30th. Was having a pretty remarkable year. Consistent. .317 BA

Royelny Strop has been injury free for 4 straight games... batting .250/ .744 OPS

Andrew Dutkanych IV, 2024 7th round pick, Vanderbilt. Known more for his HS pitching, than anything in college. Leg injury hampered him his Freshman year, and then TJ surgery (Late March 2024) derailed a good start to his 2024 season.

Just to clarify: Is Dutkanych is ready to take the mound?

I'm reading tea leaves from the transactions....maybe he's ready. He wasn't place on the IL. And he's listed in the Bullpen/Available for the current game going on...4th inning so far

edit ~ 5th inning, sorry

no expectations for Dutkanych but still pumped if he gets two months in to end the year and gets a fresh start healthy next year.

He was moved today, from Palm Beach IL to Active FCL Roster. Take that FWIW. Alec Willis is listed on Active Roster. I guess they hold hopes he pitches the next two weeks, too.

only 2 players on the IL in the FCL....Jefferson Moran and Brian Holiday

hopefully that clears things up a bit? I don't know

I hope we see him this season ....just for a bit

Rob Rains' article on Rainiel Rodriguez

good background on the kid, I think you'll enjoy.

That was a great article, thanks, Crav. Now I'm even more psyched than I was before, mostly regarding the kids work ethic/character. Love the Pujols connection. And, I'm starting to think he may stick at catcher. But, if not, there's always DH/1B/LF. If you hit, you shall play!

Great article! The Cardinals sure have a fine group of catching prospects!
18 year old Rodriguez at Palm Beach RH hitter
21 year old Bernal at Springfield Switch hitter
nearly 24 year old Crooks at Memphis LH hitter
and 25 year old Herrera who may still do some catching

Alec Willis, another blast from the past. Hope the kid gets a chance to do something in his career.
