Planning for the Cubs series
It’s inexcusable how the organization couldn’t figure out how to not pitch Gray in Pittsburgh and then have him open the series at Wrigley. Instead we had two of the worst starters in MLB throwing batting practice. The end of the current regime can’t come soon enough.

You make a very fair point.chuckaluck1 wrote: ↑07 Jul 2025 07:34 am It’s inexcusable how the organization couldn’t figure out how to not pitch Gray in Pittsburgh and then have him open the series at Wrigley. It was a poor plan for the rotation.
Re: Planning for the Cubs series
They should have found a way to start Gray in the series. They also should have started Matz instead of either Mikolas or Fedde in one of the games. Somewhat like the Cardinals, the cubs are vulnerable to LH pitching. The cubs are 8-5 in their last 13 games, and in each loss the opposing winning pitcher was a lefty: Liberatore, Matz, Walter, Valdez, and Matz again.
