Oli is a loser
When the TV cameras catch him in the dugout, there he is smiling, laughing and having a good time even when the Cardinals are stinking up the field. This man is out of his realm and absolute waste of time and money. I don't seem to recall Tony just laughing in up in the dugout in the middle of the game.

He acts like he has money on the spread of the game and is trying to make it as bad as possible.janb526 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:40 pm When the TV cameras catch him in the dugout, there he is smiling, laughing and having a good time even when the Cardinals are stinking up the field. These actions by Marmol, Waino, Mikolas and other members of the “Fun Bunch” I referenced in another thread are mainly responsible for the “it is okay to lose” culture that you've seen on display the past few years.

I wasn't LaRussa's biggest fan but I respected his attitude on the dugout.
It was a war.
Now its a country club.
I hate it.

Small progress this year - but more of the disease must be cut out.
Beginning with The Marmot.

I think he’s laughing because now he’s relaxed.
The game is so far out of hand he doesn’t have to worry about blowing it with his usual close game screwups!

Don’t disagree but he has to manage the team he is given. Fact is same guy that put the team together hired Oli. The root of the problem is not Oli.Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:52 pmToxic culture.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:46 pmWaino the past few years.45s wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:42 pmGood observationjanb526 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:40 pm When the TV cameras catch him in the dugout, there he is smiling, laughing and having a good time even when the Cardinals are stinking up the field. Oli is the leader of the toxic culture.
Mo sucks for many other reasons.
Re: Oli is a loser
Mo hired him. Mo put the team on the field. Mo let the farm system go to pot. Mo is responsible for player development. The toxic starts with Mo is all I’m saying.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:59 pm[nonsense]Jatalk wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:56 pmDon’t disagree but he has to manage the team he is given. Not to overly defend Oli, but if you gave Tony. Whitey, Red… hell, pick any great manager you want and gave them 26 of me, they’d lose every time!
The quality of the players matter.

A real manager demands accountability from the front office.
Oli took the job for the money and fame. Not because he was qualified. Doesn't exempt Mo either. They both suck.
But the thread is about Oli.

That's just what I was thinking. You could always feel how much TLR hated losing.11WSChamps wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:50 pm I wasn't LaRussa's biggest fan but I respected his attitude on the dugout.

And I always hated how Mike Matheny seemed to take every bad performance as an opportunity to make sure the players knew how much he believed in them.
But with Marmol...it's like he doesn't even realize there is a scoreboard.

Re: Oli is a loser
I just wrote this exact thing in another thread. When you see Counsell, like Tony, he is all business. Oli is laughing when they are getting hammered. This is not little league. There is a diff between having a loose clubhouse, and having a joke. You don't want your team to be totally uptight, but you want them to be serious. If you are getting hammered, there is no laughing. The joke is Marmol and it has been going on for far too long.janb526 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 19:40 pm When the TV cameras catch him in the dugout, there he is smiling, laughing and having a good time even when the Cardinals are stinking up the field.
