Not remotely deserving of making the squad - yet there he is (courtesy of a corrupt appointment on the part of Manfred).
Quite a few pitchers who are far, far more worthy.
Gray is one of them: 17 starts; 1.080 WHIP, 9.6 K/9 - while averaging a full inning more per game.
There are easily a dozen similar examples.

That Manfred appointed Kershaw for marketing reasons, rather than for being a member of the 2025 squad based on merit this season, is the very point of the thread and has been from the first post.

There have now been 80 players selected (appointed) to this all star game if you count the players who were selected and can't play due to injury, or pitchers who were selected and cannot pitch due to pitching games right before the all star game and needed replacements to fill out the active player roster

I was recently looking up the 15 inning All Star game from 1967 and saw that Bill Freehan caught the entire game in spite of the fact that there were two other catchers on the AL roster. Incredible.

Does Sonny Gray or quite a few other starters deserve to be on before Misiorowski? Absolutely.

But the high majority of fans watching will be much more excited for Misiorowski to come in throwing 103 than watching a Sonny Gray 91mph cutter

again, i agree with your point, but that's not how this game is treated any more. It's become more of a circus
