He’s not gonna get anywhere near that…he just wants out of Buffalo. He’s also a year away from 50-60ptsMizTruBlueLuvzU wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 09:31 am I have zero interest in this guy. Stay away. 9 million per ? Lol, dude had 38 pts last year

My first thought was, well, he plays for Buffalo so of course his stats aren’t going to look good. But then I saw at the bottom where it’s a 3 year average and…yeah.BluesBirdsBuds wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025 13:30 pm IMG_2242.jpeg

Yikes
I think Byram is better than this card is making him out to be as there’s so much stuff like this just doesn’t capture (the main one probably being QoC) but I just don’t see the appeal with this guy.

Army, PLEASE seek elsewhere for what you crave. Hoping to hear soon that Byram has been traded to another team, so this nightmare will end.

Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
When I remember Byram's time with the Avs, I remember a plus-skating defenceman that, even at 19 when he started, seemed to do a lot of little things right when playing.
In his three years with the Avs, he went from 5th in ice time his rookie year, to 4th, to 3rd, so he was definitely working on his overall game and gaining the trust of the coaching staff.
But he was phased out of Colorado by other left-shot defencemen and it appears the same thing is happening in Buffalo.
The injuries do scare me a bit, but the price tag for both the acquisition and then the cap cost scare me more.

Seen a report saying Byrams going to the Rags.
I'm glad. I don't want to sign a guy who has concussion issues to a long term high dollar deal. I think the Blues dodged a bullet there.

I'm beginning to think there's no smoke around Blues and Byram. It's only been the B-listers tweeting - David Pagnotta, JR. None of the big names are mentioning it.
To be honest, I think Byram's agent used JR and Pagnotta to try drive his client's price up and they bit.

His inury history bein my main concern, but almost as equally concerning to me is the fear he’s on the soft side. I just trully believe we need as much size and nastiness on the back end as possible, and we already have Faulk, Fowler, Broberg and sometimes Parayko who dont play all that physical.
Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
Yes 100% agree. The Blues have had the softest Blueline core in the NHL for a while. We are finally in a transition period with Leddy and Krug (unfortunate circumstance) out and Faulk close to being gone. We all love Broberg but he’s not physical. Adding Byram to be a core member is not the direction to go unless we can get him for cheap due to him wanting out.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 21:05 pm His inury history bein my main concern, but almost as equally concerning to me is the fear he’s on the soft side. Then he’s JUST the type player Army LOVES! The only person rooting harder for the Oilers than Oilers’ fans was Army. Unfortunately for him, he keeps hiring guys who coach the heavy game: Hitch, Berube, Monty. In my opinion, the MVP of the 2019 Cup run was Larry Robinson who turned passive soft big guys Parakyo and Bouwmeester into nasty monsters like he was. If it were up to Army, he’d have a team of Rod Seilings and Inge HammarstromsSameOldBlues wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 21:05 pm His inury history bein my main concern, but almost as equally concerning to me is the fear he’s on the soft side. Yea, to this day I still dont understand Army’s love affairs for small players. Shattenkirk, Faulk, Krug, and so on. Just their limited reach alone makes them inferior Dmen, and then when ya throw in their lack of physical play…history has proven it rarely works when the real season starts. Hopefully he learned his lesson, or hopefully Steen learned Army’s lesson.Red7 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 15:03 pmThen he’s JUST the type player Army LOVES! Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
I think Army (and others) were going on the trend of a faster game using a smaller and elusive dman to set the pace. Players like Lane Hutson, Cale Makar, Quinn Hughes, etc. But I think that trend is fading (or has limitations) and we're seeing size and wingspan being a key driver in transition play.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 16:17 pmYea, to this day I still dont understand Army’s love affairs for small players. I also say that of the group you mention, I'd say that Faulk always played a bit of a rougher and physical game...at least in most of his career.

Buffalo is taking Byram to arbitration.

So in typical Buffalo fashion, are they screwing themselves by keeping him one more year and then losing him for nothing after this year when he’s UFA?kimzey59 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 16:50 pm Buffalo is taking Byram to arbitration.
