Kershaw ASG???
Kershaw has played in only 9 games and is averaging fewer than 5 innings per start.
3.43 ERA; 1.254 WHIP, and just 6.4 K/9.
Not remotely deserving of making the squad - yet there he is (courtesy of a corrupt appointment on the part of Manfred).
Quite a few pitchers who are far, far more worthy.
Gray is one of them: 17 starts; 1.080 WHIP, 9.6 K/9 - while averaging a full inning more per game.
There are easily a dozen similar examples.

Re: Kershaw ASG???
Pretty sure this is Kershaw's swan song season, so this is his farewell All Star game. It has happened several times in the past for some of the greatest.
Re: Kershaw ASG???
How about the guys who actually deserve to play in the ASG exhibition?WLTFE wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:03 pmIt's a [fork]ing exhibition game...lighten up Francis.Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:01 pm Kershaw has played in only 9 games and is averaging fewer than 5 innings per start.

Think they would like to have been picked by the commissioner simply because of the name of the back of their jersey?
I am only and always about the game - even the ASG.
Kershaw has not earned being there.
Others have.
He has been there 10 times already - if he had any integrity, he would have turned down the offer this year.
Apparently, the Dodgers can buy all-star game spots from the commissioner's office.....

Commissioner Rob Manfred as a “Legend Pick” in recognition of his illustrious career. Kershaw, who recently became the 20th member of the 3,000-strikeout club, is now an 11-time All-Star.
Re: Kershaw ASG???
You don't understand legacy status when it comes to the ASG. You'd think by now, you would know that.Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:01 pm Kershaw has played in only 9 games and is averaging fewer than 5 innings per start.

Re: Kershaw ASG???
It has.
And equally underserved.
Manfred pulled the same stunt in 2022 with Pujols and Cabrera - and neither should have been there.
Re: Kershaw ASG???
I referenced that in my post.icon wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:13 pmYou don't understand legacy status when it comes to the ASG. You'd think by now, you would know that.Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:01 pm Kershaw has played in only 9 games and is averaging fewer than 5 innings per start.

Perhaps you missed that?
I understand it with perfection - which is why I am opposed to it.
This is the 2025 ASG - and Kershaw has not earned it.
"Legacy" recognition belongs in the HOF.
Not on the field.

Re: Kershaw ASG???
Agreed.
A "legacy" pick by a commissioner most certainly is (bleep).
Re: Kershaw ASG???
Refuse to get fired about about a game I won’t watch, That doesn’t count.
Re: Kershaw ASG???
From the composition of your posts in this thread, that clearly is not true.WLTFE wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:19 pmIT'S A [fork]ing EXHIBITION GAME...no one cares about it!!!!Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:11 pmHow about the guys who actually deserve to play in the ASG exhibition?WLTFE wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:03 pmIt's a [fork]ing exhibition game...lighten up Francis.Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:01 pm Kershaw has played in only 9 games and is averaging fewer than 5 innings per start.

Re: Kershaw ASG???
I don't see an indication of anyone being "fired up" - other than on the part of some who claim not to care about the game.
I simply made the perfectly accurate analysis that Kershaw does not belong based on performance this year - and several who are deserving were denied.
Not sure why anyone would object to a provably accurate assessment.
